On the first Sunday of Advent, the "prophecy" candle is lit. This candle symbolizes Hope as it reminds us of the Old Testament prophecies of the coming Messiah.

We Wait in Joyful Hope!

In Advent, we enter a special season of hope, expectation, and anticipation as we relive through scripture the events leading up to our Saviour's birth. We also prepare our hearts for His second coming at the end of time.

The lighting of Advent candles reminds us that no matter what happens in the world or in the Church, we always have cause for joyful hope because the One in whom we have placed our trust is completely trustworthy; His light can never be extinguished and His promises are never broken. Hope leads us to “desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit” (CCC 1817).

By preparing for the anniversary of Our Lord's birth, we quietly and humbly make room for Him in our hearts once again, knowing that He is graciously preparing for us an eternal home of indescribable beauty deep within His Sacred Heart. "In my Father's house there are many mansions. If not, I would have told you: because I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14:2)

St. Paul exhorts us to "be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer" (Romans 12:12). May the grace of the Holy Spirit help us to be patient and faithful as we look forward with joyful hope and eager hearts to the fulfillment of all Our Lord's promises!

Sincerely in Christ,

The Father John Harvey Guild Team

by Fr. Paul Check

The phrase to “Live Jesus” is something that was enfleshed in this man, an Oblate of St. Francis de Sales; he received the love of God and rested in the Sacred Heart so that he could live that humility of Christ, that gentleness and that charity...

Monthly Masses for Guild Members!

We're pleased to announce that Father Paul Check, Executive Director of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin and former Executive Director of Courage International (2008-2016) will be saying a special Mass for all Guild members on the 14th of every month!

Father Check has been supportive of the Guild's efforts right from the beginning, when he heard we wanted to establish ourselves as an official non-profit dedicated to promoting and praying for the opening of Father Harvey's cause. Father's enthusiastic encouragement has been a blessing and consolation throughout this process!

We invite all Guild members to please pray a Rosary for Father Check on the 14th of each month, in thanksgiving for his prayerful support.

Answered Prayers

Have you asked Father Harvey's intercession for a special intention or favour? Do you believe your prayer was answered through Father's intercession?

If so, please write to us and let us know about it! These records of favours and answered prayers may help us in pursuing the opening of Father's cause.

Here's Eileen's account of a prayer answered through Father Harvey's intercession:

Fr. John Harvey is my favourite "go to" person for interceding on my behalf with Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

My 70 year old cousin in Australia was scheduled for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm surgery to repair a leaking aortic aneurysm on November 29th and I once again requested Fr. Harvey to please watch over him. I think our prayers were not in vain for my cousin texted me from his hospital bed to say that his surgeon did one last contrast angiogram before the procedure to stop the leak but was astounded to find there was "no leak" and that there was no need for surgery and that he (the surgeon) considered it a miracle!

Thank you Fr. Harvey for watching over all the friends we pray for. I am very grateful for your healing intercessions.

Fr. Harvey and the Guild in the National Catholic Register

On November 27th, the National Catholic Register published a wonderful article entitled Fr. John Harvey - Apostle of Charity and Chastity; Man of Courage and shared it twice through their social media. This resulted in over 35 new Guild members (so far) who are joining us in praying for the opening of Father Harvey's cause!

We're especially grateful to Catherine Smith for writing the article, and to Kevin Knight, Blog and Social Media Editor at the National Catholic Register, for getting it published!

Words of Encouragement

"A few months ago, a current parishioner gave me a picture of Fr. John Harvey and Fr. Benedict Groeschel speaking together at a Courage Conference. How I would wish to be a fly on the wall to hear the conversation between these two saintly men! The legacy Fr. Harvey leaves for Courage is ahead of his time and a true prompting of the Holy Spirit. His compassion, patience and wisdom continues to inspire all of us who work in the Courage Apostolate."
