Help Improve Health Care for LGBTQIA+ Older Adults in California | |
|
Do you or your organization serve LGBTQIA+ adults ages 50 and older? If so, they can now have a direct voice in helping improve the quality and accessibility of the health care they receive.
The first statewide survey documenting the needs, hopes, and priorities of mid-life and older LGBTQIA+ Californians has launched! A statewide coalition of LGBTQIA+ community-based organizations, research partners and others are working to paint an up-to-date and comprehensive statewide portrait and form the first-ever baseline data set that will be available to encourage additional research and policy attention to the needs of the LGBTQIA+ adult population.
As stated in the FAQs for this survey, "This survey is important because it will provide data and insights on the health care needs and experiences of LGBTQIA+ older adults in California. According to previous studies, this population faces significant barriers in accessing health care, such as lack of timely care, difficulty finding providers, unfair treatment, and higher rates of delaying or not getting needed care. This survey will help inform policy makers, health care providers, California’s Master Plan on Aging, and advocates on how to improve health care access and quality for LGBTQIA+ older adults."
Thank you for sharing this with those in your personal and professional circle!
