Mike Hebert and Matt Holt CABELAS 10K Champs

10K CABELAS CHAMPS

Mike Hebert Palo,IA and Matt Holt Quasqueton,IA both employed as electricians spent two days practicing on pool 9 in separate boats. Locating a school of fish in the middle of pool 9 on the main river, using a white top water popper and white flukes they culled 7 or 8 keepers to weigh 16.71 pounds of bass for the win.

The day started slow due to the foggy conditions with Matt and Mike working the spot patiently waiting for the sun. Around 1030 with the sun the school of smallies turned on for a short time. Moderate current with sand and gravel with a lot of bait fish helped.

This is their first time fishing the 10K with Mike telling me that he missed his anniversary last night. The winners would like to thank their wife's with Mike assuring me that his check will be an anniversary gift.

A record 134 teams launched for the 2023 10K. This tournament is the largest one day buddy tourney on the upper Mississippi River.

Iowa Bass Nation would like to thank Randy Christensen and Dustin Collins from Cabelas. Dustin also cashed in the 10K with his partner, Jason Slagstad.
