Informed Parents Make Great Partners

Diving Right Into 2024!

Happy January, Owl families! We've been back from break for just a week, and we're diving right into all kinds of excitement in this second semester at ARPS. Over the next few weeks we'll be cheering each other on in the Spelling Bee, making our world a happier place during Great Kindness Week, presenting months of hard work in the 8th grade National History Day competition, celebrating the 100th Day of School, and more! Our Owls are learning, connecting, and SOARing each day, and we're so proud to see their growth. (Speaking of diving right in, the awesome students pictured above became open water scuba certified last month as part of our TIDES elective for middle school students! Way to go, Owls!)

Aspen Ridge wouldn't be the special, student-centered place that we love so much without the heart and hard work of our incredible teachers. Our teachers make a difference in so many young lives each day, and we're so grateful to have them on our team. If an ARPS teacher has made a difference in your child's life, you can let them know that their work is appreciated by nominating them for a Teacher of the Year award. Each year the St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation hosts the Tribute to Teachers celebration to recognize outstanding teachers throughout the district. You can hop online today to nominate an Aspen Ridge teacher who exemplifies excellence in teaching. All submissions are due by February 15th.

We have lots to share in this January update. Thank you for taking the time to read through and stay up to date on all that's happening at ARPS!

Intent to Return: Due by Friday, 1/26

As we plan and finalize our lottery interest for the 2024-25 school year, we are asking that you submit an Intent to Return form for each child in your family. Your input provides the needed information for grade level development for the upcoming school year, ensuring that all current (and interested) families have a placement at Aspen Ridge.

Thank you in advance for completing this Intent to Return form by Friday, January 26th. We take pride in growing our Owls as future leaders and engaging community members. Aspen Ridge is the fastest growing premier charter school in the area because of our students, staff, and families. Thank you for being an integral part of our Owl community.

Thank You, ARPS Board of Directors!

January is School Board Recognition Month, and we'd love to take this opportunity to send a big thank you from our staff, students, and the greater ARPS community to our ARPS Board Members.

We are grateful to have the dedication, heart, and passion of Krista Burnell, Randy Drennen, Liz Locricchio, Eric Rinard, and Miguel Zuniga on our Aspen Ridge Board. Each of these Board Members has given years of their time and talent to the school that we all love, and we are so thankful for their leadership and service. Thank you, ARPS Board!

January Fundraisers - Thanks for Your Support!

Coming Soon: The Great Kindness Challenge!

At the end of this month, Aspen Ridge will take on the Great Kindness Challenge - and we hope your family will join us! We're challenging our students to complete as many acts of kindness as they can from January 29th - February 2nd. More information will be coming home soon from your child's teacher. On the last day of the week - which is also our 100th day of school - we're asking students to bring in coins (or dollars) for the Caring Coins Competition! The class that brings in the most money for the Caring Coins Competition will win a special prize. All donations will be given to There With Care Colorado, a nonprofit organization that provides service and support to families with critically ill children. Our National Junior Honor Society students chose this organization, and they're excited to see the support our community can show to this worthy cause. Thank you for helping us make our school - and the world - a kinder place!

Our school's biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up on Saturday, March 9th! If you haven't been before, this is a night of fun and fundraising that all APRS parents and friends are invited to attend. This year's Spring Gala theme is Casino Royale: A Night to Bond & Bid High for Aspen Ridge! The night will include a champagne welcome, 3-course dinner, silent and live auctions, a photo booth, wine and liquor pulls, "secret sips" (with mystery coupons that your ARPS kids will love!), dancing, and more. Our volunteers will transform our space at the Omni Interlocken into a classic casino scene with a glamorous James Bond vibe. Tickets will go on sale soon. You won't want to miss it!

If you own, work for, or know of a company that would like to be a sponsor or donor for our 11th Annual Spring Gala, please reach out to [email protected]. If you have an item that you would be willing to donate - such as tickets to a sporting event or concert, a gift certificate to a local business, or any item (big or small) that would be a fun addition to our silent or live auction - we would be so grateful for your donation!

Last Month in Photos | Owls in Action

Our middle school students had the opportunity to make blankets for Project Warm Up, which provides blankets to foster children in Colorado. The material was purchased with funds raised by our National Junior Honor Society students. They made over 40 blankets!

Our 4th grade GT students shared their creative business ideas through Shark Tank presentations.

Ms. Miller, Ms. Salmeron, and Ms. Shahinian were very impressed by these budding entrepreneurs!

Our 3rd grade students soared and sung their hearts out at their winter concert!

Our 2nd grade classrooms were full of famous figures from Greek mythology.

Each owl learned and presented about a different Greek god or goddess.

Our Girls' Basketball Team is having a great season, showing their spirit and teamwork every time they're on the court. Come cheer them on at their next home game this Wednesday, January 17th, right after school!

Our 1st grade Owls loved their field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science!

They were all smiles as they spent the day exploring the exhibits!

Our Drama students showed their off their acting and set-building skills at their performance of Alice in Wonderland last month. Bravo, Owls!

We're loving our new partnership with our neighbor, Fitness 1440 - and so are our middle school students!

Our Strength & Conditioning students are visiting the gym to learn proper strength training technique!

We Love Our ARPS Sponsors!

We have the best sponsors around, and we hope you'll show them some love when you're in need of a local service. Thank you, ARPS Sponsors!
