Supporting Children And Women In Kenya East Africa.

January 2024 newsletter

From the Founder

PEOPLE: the ones who’ve partnered with us, the ones who pray for us, the ones who accompany us on trips to Kenya, the ones who help others to go with us, ones who are watching from the sidelines, and then there are the ones who are the reason why we do it all! The PEOPLE who are the women and children in Kenya East Africa who receive tangible support from Dorcas Destiny International. Those PEOPLE in the pictures you see of children, plus the ones behind prison bars that we’re not allowed to photograph.

Everything that Dorcas Destiny International is about is because of PEOPLE. We invite you to remember us and those whose faces you see in the photos. And when you see those photos, know that they are real PEOPLE with real lives, and a real future intended for them by the Most High God. We do our part to provide a glimmer of hope to them and to remind them that there are PEOPLE who are generous, PEOPLE who will give them food, PEOPLE who will help meet their needs, and this is all because there is a God who loves them, and that God uses PEOPLE to do His work.

In a couple of weeks, we are going back to Kenya to share more tangible love, give some hugs, serve as ministers, and reinforce the relationships we started with the PEOPLE some six years ago. As always, we invite you to join us on a future trip so you can meet our PEOPLE. In the meantime, we are grateful to those of you who’ve partnered with us and who provide financial support so we can assist with the basic needs of our PEOPLE.

Love, hugs, and blessings!

Education has the power to transform both individuals and society. As the pictures portray, we explore how our educational enrichment team has positively impacted the children we sponsor. The attached pictures showcase real-life moments, providing examples that demonstrate the transformative power of education, skills, and extracurricular activities. Education has the potential to help individuals overcome adversity and experience personal growth, ultimately shaping a better future. It's the year 2024, and we are moving forward with our commitment to education.

Motivated by Love Kings Academy

The stories of the children we sponsor at MBL are a testament to the tangible impact of education, providing better meals and a positive environment. By recognizing and investing in the power of education, we can empower minds, transform lives, and work together to create a brighter future for our children. The photos are just a small representation of what your help and donations do in Kenya. We want to light up your day as you see how much a small donation can make someone smile on another continent.

Get inspired by these Victory School Success Stories

A student called Nivell was a senior among her peers. She is reticent although very engaging once she became accustomed to you. Although she did not originally have great reading, writing, and speaking skills, this would not be the end of her story.

Even though Nivell did not have the best literacy skills, she was nothing short of very determined to improve her ability because she was due to graduate and wanted to get the best marks possible, which was one of the factors that pushed me to help her get better. It took me some time to understand how best to help her because I had to give equal attention to multiple students in different class groups. Eventually, we found the best way to tackle this issue, by doing frequent reading of different books, from newspapers to storybooks. This was very beneficial because there was a lot of growth from where she started to where she was before sitting her exams.

Fortunately, she completed the tests with great marks that would allow her to continue her journey in higher education.

Maureen, Grade 3.

Children experience the broad spectrum of life and Maureen is among them. She is one of the students I teach and by interacting with her, I got to have a minuscule remembrance back to my childhood...a zealous curiosity about the world she lives in and one she hopes to experience—Her dream to make the world a better place, kinder and more lovely than what she knows. A merry attitude of learning not only the rhythms of class lessons but also those of the world. Maureen has a curious mind, is prayerful, and has a grateful heart for the people who show kindness to her. She is a human book of monologues of stories, and of resilience and hope.

An enthusiast of art and numbers; if you know the two, then the world will remember your name and so today, before the world gets to know her, I want this article to know hers first. Maureen is a girl in Victory School who dreams and believes.

Success of Owen

Owen is a grade 4 pupil who used to struggle with schoolwork and used to play around a lot in class with his friends instead of doing his lessons. He also used to struggle with his confidence when you

would ask a question, he knew the answer but wouldn’t raise his hand. I came up with a criteria where everyone would answer questions whether wrong or right to boost everyone’s confidence.

He is now doing well in class, his confidence soared to new heights, he also challenges me sometimes with his questions. He has also become very creative and thinks outside the box which makes me happy to see the change but above all, he benefits as a learner.

Successful Story of Florence

I met Florence last year when she was in 5th grade. Florence is bright and focused in her

academic work. Despite her facing the normal challenges in learning, her enthusiasm for discovering and positive attitude have made her stand out in her class. Currently, she is in 6th grade and doing tremendously well.

With the support of her teachers Florence has embraced every lesson, turning each obstacle into an opportunity to learn and grow despite her being in a slum area. Her determination and joyful spirit not only helped her excel academically but also inspired her classmates. She is an example of the incredible things that can happen when a young mind is fueled by curiosity and resilience.
