Madison Marsh, upon being crowned Miss America
Reinventing Miss America with a New Standard of Leadership and Service: Meet Madison Marsh, Second Lieutenant, USAF and Miss America 2024

Sunday night January 14 marked a historic moment in Miss America history when Colorado's Madison Marsh was crowned Miss America. At just 22 years of age, Madison became the first active-duty service member to win the coveted crown, shattering barriers and inspiring young girls across the nation. This is not your mom’s Miss America- this is a woman who is a model for men and women to both be their best and do their best in every area of their lives.

More than just a pageant queen, Madison embodies a multifaceted accomplishment and star power:

  • A Dedicated Air Force Officer: Currently a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, Madison's commitment to service runs deep. Her time at the Air Force Academy, she says, honed her leadership skills and paved the way for both her academic and pageant pursuits.

  • Fighting for a Cause: Driven by the tragic loss of her mother to pancreatic cancer in 2018, Madison founded the Whitney Marsh Foundation. This organization raises funds for oncology research, fighting tirelessly for a cure to the disease that took her mother.

  • Aiming for Medical Breakthroughs: Madison is a master’s student in the Harvard Kennedy School’s public policy program, which she attends through the Air Force Institute of Technology's Civilian Institution Program. She's also set to participate in research on the early detection of pancreatic cancer at the Harvard Medical School and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her goal? To utilize cutting-edge artificial intelligence in the early detection of pancreatic cancer, potentially saving countless lives.

  • A Champion for Community: Madison's journey through pageantry began as a "fun hobby", but quickly evolved into a platform for service. She actively builds her leadership skills and engages with the community, inspiring others to embrace their potential and make a difference.

Madison's story is one of resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication. She showcases the incredible possibilities that result when passion meets opportunity. Her achievements serve as a beacon of hope for young girls everywhere. By shattering stereotypes and pursuing her dreams with fierce commitment, Madison Marsh proves that anything is possible - in the skies, in the lab, on the pageant stage, and in the hearts of those she inspires.
