Learn How to Stay Safe on the Roadways During this Time of Year
As the holiday season begins, you've probably noticed more drivers on the roadways and fellow shoppers in your local stores. This time of year can be hectic, stressful, and filled with last-minute errands.

With the end of daylight saving time behind us, it is getting darker much earlier. This change causes fewer hours of daylight and less visibility for drivers. Some studies have even found that following the end of daylight saving time, there are more traffic accidents. It takes our eyes time to adjust to driving in darker conditions.

This is why we created the fifth video in our Safe Driving video series. We wanted to provide drivers with practical tips on how they can stay safe on the roadways during this time of year.

Click on the image above to watch our video. You can also visit the U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's online library for additional driving resources.
Future Funding Opportunities
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Thriving Communities Program (TCP) is currently accepting applications. The TCP aims to ensure that disadvantaged communities adversely or disproportionately impacted by environmental, climate, and human health policy outcomes have the technical tools and organizational capacity to compete for federal aid. The goal is to deliver quality infrastructure projects that enable communities and neighborhoods to thrive. The NOFO for Capacity Builders is open until Nov. 28. Applicants can find examples of projects and previous awards here.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has issued a rolling NOFO for the Large Bridge Project portion of the Bridge Investment Program. Applications for Large Bridge Project Grants (>$100 million will be accepted through Nov. 27 for FY 23-24 funding. The Bridge Investment Program is a competitive, discretionary program that focuses on existing bridges to reduce the overall number of bridges in poor condition, or in fair condition at risk of falling into poor condition.

PennDOT’s Round 1A NEVI Funding Opportunity is now available. Round 1A will begin accepting online proposals on Dec. 11 and close on Jan. 26, 2024. Locations within a 1-mile polygon on the Round 1A Priority Locations map will be eligible for funding. Please see the Apply for NEVI Funds webpage for more information.

If your government entity or organization is interested in pursuing funding under these grants or other opportunities and has questions or requests for letters of support, please contact Lillian Gabreski.
