Celebrating World Kindness Day!

The City is proud to celebrate World Kindness Day! The purpose of World Kindness Day, as defined by the World Kindness Movement, is "to highlight good deeds in the community, focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness that binds us."

The positive effects of kindness are experienced by everyone, even those who witnessed the act of kindness, improving their mood and making them significantly more likely to “pay it forward.” This means one good deed can create a domino effect and improve the day of dozens of people!

When we are KIND, we inspire others to BE KIND, creating a ripple effect that extends outward. Just like a pebble generates waves when dropped in a pond, acts of kindness radiate, touching lives and inspiring kindness wherever the wave reaches.

On this special day devoted to both large and small acts of kindness, we encourage you to spread this essential quality that brings people of every kind together, as kindness is indeed contagious!

So, we invite you to join the City on Monday, November 13th, in celebrating World Kindness Day and encourage you to do something kind for others!

Community News

Fletcher Cove Community Center Temporary Closure

The Fletcher Cove Community Center will be closed temporarily for much needed repairs. Beginning this Monday, November 13th, a new roof will be installed followed by replacement of the siding. Due to the complexity of the project, the Community Center and its immediate surroundings, including the parking lot, the Pacific Avenue entry access staircase, and the exterior areas on the west and south sides, will be closed to the public. While the public walkways within the overlook park will remain open, we advise steering clear of this area during active construction hours, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The anticipated completion date for this work is December 22nd, weather permitting.
