Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:10-18
This Sunday we launch into our new sermon series “The Armor of God.” You and I cannot stand against evil on our own- we need God’s protection.
Why do we need protection? Peter tells us in 1 Peter 5:8. “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” “Someone” is you, and the devil craves nothing more than your soul, he wants to pull you away from God and God’s love for you. The devil wants to crush your will to stand in Christ Jesus. What should you do?
Armor up!
God gives you the armor you need to “stand against the devil’s schemes.” Apostle Paul says be strong in the Lord and stand firm fully dressed in the armor God gives us. This armor is top-shelf, best-in-class armor, which includes the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, (Boots) fitted with readiness of the Gospel, a Shield of Faith, a Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit.
This is not your armor, it is God’s armor given to you. It is to be worn at all times to protect you. Why would you take it off to get dusty and rusty?
You are fully equipped for battle to stand firm in Jesus. Ready?
See you Sunday, I can't wait!

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
