INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Reporting Technology Issues and Spam Emails

Technology Issues

  • Having to rely heavily on technology daily, it’s likely that we will encounter a related issue. Whenever you have any technology related problems, whether it’s with apps like CUNYfirst, Outlook, or the Faculty & Staff Portal, etc., or with any network services or computer equipment, the fastest and best way to get help is to contact the IT HelpDesk by opening a ticket through the Faculty & Staff Portal https://fsp.laguardia.edu, or by calling 718-482-6134. Please do not forward an email request to the IT distribution list, to any other College email list, or to individuals at the College which will delay getting help to you.

Spam Emails

  • With the ongoing increase in spam emails globally, any of us may have the misfortune of receiving a spam email in our LaGuardia Outlook inbox. The safest, fastest and best way to handle spam you receive is to notify the IT HelpDesk by forwarding the original spam email to SPAM@lagcc.cuny.edu. As soon as IT learns about a spam email, it will delete the email from all email boxes and block the sender.
  • After you forward the spam email to our spam email address, delete it immediately. Please do not forward the spam email to the IT distribution list, to other College email lists, or to individuals at the College. If you forward spam emails to anyone in the College, the risk for overcoming cybersecurity measures and increasing the damage the email can cause will grow significantly.
  • In addition, do not reply to spam emails or click on any links or try to unsubscribe. If there is a phone number listed in the email, do not call or send a text to the number. Please let your colleagues and students know about the scam you’ve received.
