🎁End the Year by Giving Back🎊

As we approach the end of the year, there's a special opportunity to make a meaningful impact on respiratory health and clean air initiatives while also benefiting from a 2023 tax receipt. By donating to NB Lung before December 31st, you contribute to the crucial work of an organization dedicated to improving lung health in New Brunswick.

Why NB Lung?

New Brunswick Lung has been serving the province since 1933. To this day, we are at the forefront of initiatives aimed improving respiratory health and protecting the air we breathe. With a commitment to education, advocacy, and research, NB Lung plays a pivotal role in enhancing respiratory well-being across the region.

Your NB Lung at Work! Every dollar donated to NB Lung stays in the province and helps us:

  • Provide lung disease patients with specialized breathing equipment.
  • Support transplant patients before, during, and after their operation.
  • Offer direct patient care through one-on-one support and advice.
  • Fund research programs for healthy indoor air, and resources for pre-service doctors.
  • Provide continuing education for health professionals and students.
  • Advocate for policies to protect the air we breathe, improve patient support, and reduce the harms of smoking and vaping.

Maximize Your Impact:

Becoming a monthly donor is the best way to support NB Lung – it reduces our costs by consolidating multiple receipts into one annual receipt, and provides our organization with the stability needed to continue our work.

By donating before the year-end, you not only support the ongoing efforts of NB Lung but also secure a tax receipt for the 2023 fiscal year.

Let's come together to ensure that everyone can breathe a little easier. Support NB Lung today and make a lasting impact in New Brunswick.

Thank you for your generosity and commitment to building a healthier future.

⚕️Angela's Allies: Preventing Lung Cancer in New Brunwick☢️

Angela Stief Lea is a health conscious, non-smoking 57-year-old physiotherapist who recently received a terminal diagnosis of lung cancer. Faced with a prognosis of just a few months, she is using her newfound knowledge of lung cancer-causing radon gas to raise awareness in the small community of Havelock.

Radon gas is naturally occurring and is in all homes in Canada at varying levels. New Brunswick, based on its geology, has some of the highest rates of dangerous levels of radon in the country. You can’t see, taste, or smell radon, but you can measure it.

A lifelong health advocate, Angela started going door to door in her community, urging her neighbours to test their homes for radon. Jeff LeBlanc, of Radon Repair in Moncton, measured the level of radon in Angela’s home, and it maxed out his instrument, displaying 9,999 Bq/m3 making this the highest radon results he’s seen in his career.

Once high radon is found with a home radon test, simple renovations are effective at removing the radon from the home. This mitigation work can prevent lung cancer.

Angela's Allies is a community fund established in her honour to help address the financial barriers to radon testing.

  • a $60 donation delivers one long-term radon test kit to a New Brunswicker in need.
  • a $150 donation provides one electronic radon detector kit to a community centre or library through our lending program.
  • or, simply give what you can! 100% of Angela's Allies funds are used in support of radon action for underserved, marginalized, and vulnerable community members.

You can help prevent lung cancer in New Brunswick by supporting the Angela’s Allies Community Fund.

This year, at our Drive Electric Test Drive events, Drive Electric Atlantic has put more than 1,000 New Brunswickers behind the wheel of an EV. Our test drive events are just one part of Alyse’s work to promote healthy forms of transportation and environmental education.

From presenting to schools, municipalities, and professional organizations to advocating for better access to healthy and sustainable transportation. We’re proud of our work, and it wouldn’t be possible without Alyse’s dedication to a cause she is so passionate about.
