PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

This week we hosted Aaron Bean, Congressman for the 4th District, House of Representatives. Bean is always a welcome friend of the club and never lets us down with his humor and passion for government.

He focused on the four major issues taking place in the House which only has 60 days to get issues passed. The first is our dealings with China. It's concerning that China is now activating bases in Cuba; A little too close for comfort.

The second is weaponization of our government. He said that many of our decisions are driven by the media. The actions of many of our young people come about from the lack of trade education in schools. Our government is going back to trade education opportunities as two-thirds of our young adults are not going to college.

The third focus is spending. Bean said 160 bills were sent to Senate and passed. The President vetoed them all. Government's spending will exacerbate our recession. The United States has had a clean debt limit 39 times in the past. The last few presidencies (both parties) have dug us deeper. We can't stop cold and shut down debt. We also cannot default on our loans.

The last major issue is Immigration. We still need to secure our borders and stop illegals from entering our country on their terms. Also, Bean touched on Bill H-1B. This is a visa in the United States under the Immigration and Nationality Act that allows U.S. employers to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. A specialty occupation requires the application of specialized knowledge and a bachelor's degree or the equivalent of work experience.

Bean didn't let us down as he stepped in to assist Jepp with his high-powered auction skills. It's never a dull moment with Aaron Bean.

Next week we do have a meeting. Please join us to hear from Lake Ray, a Florida State Representative and past SBMC member, and President of the First Coast Manufacturers Association. Bring a door prize--and a potential member. The networking gets better and better every week.

Have a Happy and Safe Fourth of July!!

Respectfully,

Jeanne Maron

2023 President
