2023 Road Resurfacing Project Completion

The 2023 Road Resurfacing Project has come to a close. This year’s road project covered 1.2 miles of Village streets that included:

  • Constitution Drive (West of Independence)
  • Constitution Court (West of Independence)
  • Gettysburg Court
  • Providence Lane
  • Springhill Lane
  • Mallard Drive
  • Munn Road (South of Mallard Ridge)

In addition to the 1.2 miles of roadway resurfaced, the project's contractors replaced 2,290 feet of curb, 4,800 lineal feet of sidewalks, and reconstructed 22 sanitary and stormwater manholes. We appreciate resident's patience and understanding while the resurfacing project took place to improve our Village streets. Lake County Board Announces Early Bond Pay Off for Special Service Area #16

At the Lake County Board meeting on October 10, the County Board approved an ordinance that issued the payment for outstanding bonds, resulting in $3.5 million in savings for taxpayers who own property within Special Service Area 16 (SSA 16). The passed ordinance will reduce the SSA 16 tax levy for those with property within the SSA. It is estimated that the overall SSA tax levy savings will be $428 per $100,000 market value through 2037.

SSA 16 consists of Lake County, Village of Lindenhurst, Village of Lake Villa, Fox Lake Hills, and Grandwood Park water systems. This was formed to help finance improvements for Lake Michigan water, estimated to cost up to $46 million. Project costs ended up being $3.5 million lower than the original estimated cost, allowing one of the bonds to be redeemed in full 15 years early.

Non-perishable food items will be accepted through November 11. Donations can be dropped off at First American Bank (1906 E. Grand Avenue), Lindenhurst Police Department (2300 E. Grand Avenue), and Lindenhurst Village Hall (2301 E. Sand Lake Road).

Village Postal Substation Closure Update

After 40 years of service, the Village will stop operating as a postal substation and will move to a stamps-to-go service effective close of business on November 22. The stamps-to-go service is a user-friendly option for residents to purchase stamps because it allows the Village to now accept credit/debit cards instead of only accepting cash and check. Along with offering a stamps-to-go service, the blue mail boxes located outside Village hall will remain.

With transitioning to a stamps-to-go service, the Lake Villa Post Office will absorb the PO boxes within Village Hall. PO box owners have a few options to decide where their mail will be delivered. To read more about the upcoming changes to the PO boxes, please visit www.lindenhurstil.org/postofficeupdates.
