There is a powerful plague sweeping across the hearts of Jesus’ followers.  Symptoms include headaches, body aches, stomach aches, and high blood pressure, perhaps the worst symptom is serious sadness.  This plague was present 2000 years ago, and it still rears its ugly head today.  It’s called worry. What should we do?

Jesus offers an antidote to counteract the sickening symptoms of worry.  Seek the reign and rule of God who protects you, provides for you, and cares for all your needs.  Jesus knows what we need, he knows our hearts and desires and he knows our worries. Continuing his teaching on delighting in the Lord, and serving Him and not money, Jesus explains how he provides everything we need.

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

-Matthew 6:31-34-

Worried? Seek Jesus first and he will give you everything you need.

Sunday we conclude our sermon series titled  “first.”  I can’t wait!

Pastor Austin

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
