Deadline for Homestead Filing
January and February were very productive months as homeowners filed for homestead exemptions before the March 1 deadline. During these two months, nearly 2,000 homestead applications were filed in our Stuart and Hobe Sound offices and online!

ATTENTION NEW HOMEOWNERS
If you purchased your home from a previous owner that had accumulated significant tax savings due to the Save Our Homes benefit, please be aware. This benefit will reset when a property changes ownership, which may result in a significant tax increase for you.

Our mission is to raise awareness so new homebuyers can plan for the financial impact. Letters will be mailed soon to new homebuyers who purchased from a previous owner that had a significant tax savings through the Save Our Homes benefit. In addition, we are equipping new homebuyers with three tools that will help educate and assist them in estimating their own taxes - the Property Tax Estimator, the New Homebuyer Timeline Video and the New Homebuyer Timeline Handout.

Limited Income Senior Exemption
This letter goes to all residents that currently have the Limited Income Senior Exemption. It will inform them of the 2023 income threshold. If they still fall under this threshold, then they do not need to do anything.

Commercial Income & Expense
This letter will be mailed to our income generating properties requesting information to assist us in the valuation of their property.

Total & Permanent Disability Income
This letter goes to all residents that currently have a Total & Permanent Disability exemption. They will need to report their 2022 gross income.

Granny Flat Exemption
This letter will be mailed to homesteaded property owners asking to confirm that their parent or grandparent are still residing in their home.
