Our beginning Teachers are full of excitement, enthusiasm, and eager to support one another in SEEC's Beginning Teacher Network. The network currently hosts teachers from three different districts and it's not too late to still register your beginning teachers for any or all remaining sessions.
This year, the network has focused on building relationships with colleagues and making connections with others in neighboring districts; classroom environment and physical spaces that invite learning, routines and procedures (defining and refining); relationships with students and school community; and self-care. Additionally, our beginning teachers have heard from experts in the field about positive behavior supports and they've worked to identify school rules, classroom rules, and classroom routines (always an underlying current for any beginning teacher). Our beginning teachers have collaborated to identify ways to acknowledge appropriate classroom behaviors and ways to respond if and when the desired behaviors remain elusive.
Our next sessions will tackle instructional resources, supports, and effective tier one instruction. This spring we will get teachers into classrooms in our SEEC region to learn from and alongside effective, veteran teachers through learning walks. The network provides first-year educators experiences to engage in dialogue, seek support and guidance, and reflect on strategies and skills to build upon and improve instruction in an effort to support student learning across our region. If you have any questions about the network, please contact
Danette Brown for more information.
