National Nonprofit Day: August 17th

β€Š

On August 17th, we celebrate National Nonprofit Day to recognize the significant impact and missions of American nonprofits. This day celebrates the hard work, dedication and passion of our staff and supporters who work tirelessly to improve communities and lives.

National Nonprofit Day also increases awareness about the critical role nonprofits play and encourages more public support and involvement with their missions. By celebrating this day, we hope to inspire more people to join us and the over 1.5 million other nonprofits in America making a difference.

β€Š
How will you be celebrating National Nonprofit Day?
Spreading the word about my favorite nonprofit!

Summer Fun with Our Programs

β€Š

NYC Foster Care Cooking Class

Our NYC Enhanced Family Foster Care (EFFC) program collaborated with the SBH Center for Culinary Medicine and Teaching Kitchen. The class, taught by Chef Abbie Gellman, was 2 hours long. The youth made Jerk Salmon, Tropical Salad, Arroz con Gandules, Everyday Green Salad, Honey Mustard Vinaigrette, Picadillo, Black Bean Brownies, Roasted Broccoli, Cauliflower and Roasted Potatoes.

UC TFC Field Day

The children and youth had a fantastic day in the sun! Competitive fun was the day's theme as the event kicked off with an entrance ceremony where each team proudly displayed their handmade banners for "judges". The children's competitive spirits shone though as they participated in various games. Thank you to our team members for making this beautiful day possible!

IGNITE Summer Passport Program

IGNITE Summer Passport Program

This Summer our IGNITE program has been getting out into the community and enjoying museums, kayaking trips, golf outings and more thanks to the Summer Passport Program. This program is run by the Children's Services Council and the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce who opened doors to adventure to over 40 of our youth.

The team was also able to enroll 17 youth in the Summer of Success Program with Career Source. They have learned employability skills, honed their talents, and discovered their worth. Youth were linked with internships that provided financial stability and ignited a sense of purpose.

Behind the Scenes

Finger Lakes Service Projectο»Ώ

Staff from our Finger Lakes office celebrated our agency holiday, Remember Fred Day, by honoring others in a meaningful way. They spent the day together, cleaning the graves of children who lived at Cayuga Centers when it was called The Cayuga Asylum for Destitute Children orphanage in the early 1900s. Through their efforts, they beautifully honored the memories of these children, showing them love and respect, ensuring they are remembered and cherished.

Pride Month

Our staff took to celebrating Pride Month in a variety of ways from parades to parties. Our New York City Medical (pictured above) and Continuous Quality Improvement Departments celebrated with Color Theme Parties. Team members dressed in different colors of the rainbow and brought in matching food items to create a rainbow spread.

Miami United Way Fundraiser

The United Way of Miami runs a yearly campaign where organizations served help raise funds. This year, United Way of Miami celebrated their 100 years, so the Miami team planned an 80s-themed event to fundraise. Our Florida staff donated over $650 this year towards the campaign. As an Impact Partner, we are happy to be able to give back to an organization that has done so much for us.

Donor Spotlight: Blick Art Materials

β€Š

A big thank you to Blick Art Materials for supporting our NYC Learning Center art projects! Our Learning Center provides a comprehensive and nurturing educational environment for unaccompanied children (UC) in the Transitional Foster Care (TFC) program. A key part of our Learning Center has been using art to connect to relevant themes using collaborative efforts. Being able to provide different ways to connect with emotion and identity is crucial in nurturing the well-being and safety of unaccompanied children. Thanks to Blick Art Materials, we can continue creating projects where these children can express themselves and take the time to create something beautiful.

You can join Blick Art Materials in supporting our artists - check out our Learning Center wishlist!
