Great Art Inspired by Water

Celebrating a year long suite of exhibitions and programs that explore our relationship to the flora and fauna of the mysterious and brilliant underwater world.

Fauna First Look Preview Party

Our next exhibition suite in the 2023 season, Fauna, opened on May 5 with a packed First Look Preview Party, celebrating the opening of Liz Sexton: Out of Water and Courtney Mattison: Undercurrent. The evening included staged social hosted by Andy DuCett, in conversation with Liz Sexton, Courtney Mattison, and naturalist, Sarah Holger. The night also included a live gallery performance by woolen lover, Fauna Fluxus by Flyway Dance, and a DJ shakedown by Dr. Bob. With all of this and a pinata, what’s not to love?

International Museum Day + Annual Report

We gathered at MMAM on May 18, International Museum Day, to reflect on the museum’s impact and accomplishments in 2022, and to take this moment to share our vision and strategic plan for 2023 and beyond. We are imagining a future that includes redefining what great art inspired by water is and who the museum serves, and the ways MMAM’s artistic programs impact the communities it operates from, both social and natural.
