Cranbrook Names Vijay Iyer Chief Communications Officer 

International marketing and communications executive joins leadership of globally acclaimed education, art, and science community

Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, September 25, 2023 – Cranbrook Educational Community announced today, that after a global search, Vijay Iyer has been named Cranbrook’s chief communications officer. Iyer joins Cranbrook from amp Sound Branding Inc., where he served as CEO of North America for the boutique brand design agency since 2019. In that role, Iyer consulted with some of the world's most influential consumer and commercial brands, growing the business to secure investment from the WPP agency network.

Iyer, 47, joins Cranbrook with extensive experience in marketing and communications. Before amp, he worked at General Motors for close to two decades, serving in global public relations and brand leadership roles, including executive director of communications for GM's OnStar, Customer Experience, and Urban Mobility group, as well as CMO for Cadillac and Chevrolet in Europe.

Iyer's appointment is effective October 1, 2023. He will report to Cranbrook President Aimeclaire Roche.

Iyer holds a marketing and business bachelor's degree from the Rhein-Main University of Applied Science, Wiesbaden, Germany, and DEI and executive leadership credits from Cornell University and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
