President's Message

The fall is upon us already! I hope you all have been able to enjoy these gorgeous mild days across Missouri. We have several events to learn and connect scheduled for the fall – stay on top of what’s happening from our Events page https://mo-ache.ache.org/events/ including our annual meetings in partnership with the Annual MHA Convention – this year it’s in St. Louis! The chapter is always looking for new ideas and new volunteers – together we can make a vibrant healthcare leader community, if interested in getting involved, send us a note! https://mo-ache.ache.org/contact/ And our LinkedIn group is getting more active – help us create the Missouri conversation here: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/3866626/

All the best,

Matt

Message From Your ACHE Regent

As we wind down the summer, and shift our attention to the start of a new school year, fall sports, and a steadier calendar of activities, we need to continue our investment in strengthening the healthcare industry from all perspectives. The Babe Ruth World Series tournament just completed its run, having brought teams from other countries to Cape Girardeau. This makes me think of all the healthcare teams out there searching for and investing in talent to fill essential roles to care for our communities across the state. It can sometimes feel like we are in competition with each other for scarce resources; but rather I would ask us how we come together to entice others to choose a career in health care, invest in technology driving better health, and use your voice to advocate for patients: our consumers. These efforts align with ACHE’s strategic plan, as well as the Missouri Hospital Association’s 2023-2025 Strategic Plan Initiatives.

As part of our strategic plan, our members identified a need to support the development of future leaders in our business and communities through increased connections, engagement, and opportunities. I am planning my HEN visits over the course of the next few months, and ask each of you take the opportunity to connect and engage with your local communities. There is no substitute for personal connections and relationships to foster interest in the future of health care.

The last several years have taught us perseverance, and to remain steadfast and persistent in our service to others. It’s been a time of uncertainty, difficulty, and occasional insanity. Healthcare is changing at a rate never seen before and then toss in the economic, political, and world events that add an additional layer of complexity, but despite it all, we continue to persevere as we continue to focus on what we get to do. As the song says, “You can’t always get what you want,” but we have the privilege of impacting others’ lives in so many ways... “that’s satisfaction!”.

Stay well,

Mariellena Sudak, DHA, FACHE
