The Tiger's Roar!

Tildenville Elementary School Community Brief Friday, September 22, 2023

Dear Mark,

We are now already well into the second half of this first nine-week quarter and our Tigers are still growing strong. As you will see in this issue, students and teachers are working together to create engaged learning experiences!

As a reminder, student progress reports for the first quarter will be available at schools throughout the district this week and as you probably already know, are posted on the Skyward student information system. Skyward can reached by entering the "OCPS Parent Portal" if you have not done so as yet. Last year, OCPS prepared this very brief, but high quality video explaining how to use the Parent Portal to check on not only progress reports and report cards, but also other student matters.

Mr. Maurice Draggon does a great job in the short video explaining to parents how to get into the Parent Portal. Once you open the Parent Portal, you can then go in other directions beyond reviewing student progress reports which come out 4X per year. For example, you might check on your student's daily progress or locate important parent consent forms.

This school year, please take time to review your child’s progress reports with them. Be sure to celebrate their success and encourage continued academic achievement. Simple words of encouragement can be very powerful in helping students stay focused and motivated!

Mrs. Londoño-Scott, Mr. Bresk, and family on the day of their recognition

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Londoño-Scott, our awesome guidance counselor. We would also like to congratulate our Support Person of the Year, Mr. Bresk, our fantastic bookkeeper. Thank you both for all that you do for our Tigers, staff and school. We are so thankful to have you!

Campus safety and the security of our students and staff is a constant priority. Deputy Threat of the Orange County Sheriff's Office is our School Resource Officer (SRO). He has been with us for many years and has a great relationship with our Tigers. Thank you Deputy Threat with all you do for our school!

Community support is vital to any K-12 school's success and we are so grateful to our Tildenville parents, volunteers, and local businesses that give of their time, talent, and tresure. Pictured just above, we say thank you to Tildenville alumn and Texas Roadhouse store manager Kelsey Weiskettel for helping us out with a potato bar for our school staff. It was a delicious treat and well appreciated!

Finally, please know that we are working on a homework plan for all grades. Homework information will be coming soon in the next edition of The Tiger Roar!

Thank you very much for reading and enjoy your weekend. The first day of the fall season—autumn equinox—officially begins tomorrow!

Student Safety

Arrivals & Dismissals

We are always working hard to improve our car arrival and dismissal. Here are a few ways you can help make the drop off and pickup run quickly, efficiently and most importantly...safely!

Arrival:

When your car stops at a pole please have your Tiger exit quickly. If your child needs to get out at the top we will need you to park and walk. All visitors please park along the sidewalk so that you and your Tigers can walk up to the front of the school safely.

Dismissal:

Please have your car rider tag hanging from your rear view mirror. To ensure our students hear their names in the afternoon we repeat each student's name twice. Please drive past the staff member who is calling names slowly to ensure they have time to read the names of the students you are picking up. We also need both the inside and outside lanes filled up at all times. This helps us to load as many cars as possible and get as many cars off the main roads that we can. Following these helpful tips will help our line move in 30 minutes or less.

If you need a car tag please email Mrs. Hager at 31313@ocps.net A car tag will be made for you and sent home in your child's backpack.

Counselor's Corner

Mrs. Esther Londoño-Scott, NBCT

Mrs. Potato Head (Mrs. Londoño-Scott's alter ego) made her rounds in the Kindergarten classes recently. She spoke to the students about the parts of a counselor, such as: ears are for listening, eyes are for gauging mood, lips are for speaking kind words, and hands are for high fives and fist bumps. Tigers also learned about the importance of self-regulation and expressing feelings.
