VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers are an integral part of day-to-day operations at CKCF and our affiliate foundations. From advisory board of directors to review committee members, to event support; volunteers make things happen. This special volunteer recognition is for youth who helped us during the preparation for the office move and the actual move itself. Their helpful hands took a load off of staff and the CKCF board, and we are so grateful for their contributions.

Hunter Diller helped prepare for our shredding day, going through boxes and boxes of old files and materials. Pictured here with CKCF Staff, Kristie Diller.

Isaiah McNary blew Us Away as our Fan Installation Assistant, while Aedric McNary was the Drill Sergeant, installing Pictures and providing comic relief. Both pictured here with CKCF Board Member, Rick McNary.

Owen Newell, our Chief Supervisor, oversaw furniture assembly and office organization while, Olivia Newell, our Heavy Lifter, loaded and unloaded boxes and office furniture. Pictured here with CKCF Staff, Melinda Newell.

AFFILIATE SPOTLIGHT: VALLEY CENTER

The Valley Center School District Education Foundation (VCSDEF) was founded in 2003 to provide resources to assure a margin of excellence in Valley Center public schools. Teachers apply for grants to enhance their students’ learning. In 2019 the VCSDEF established a charitable fund for these grants at the Valley Center Community Foundation (VCCF). Since 2019 the grant cycles have been managed by VCCF and CKCF Staff. Some of the projects they’ve supported have been:

Hornets in Space

Project in April of 2017. This is a view of the Earth from this project.

DONOR CONNECTION - NOVEMBER.2023

It’s November, which is hard to believe.

The team at the community foundation is here to help you navigate your charitable giving priorities all year round, and especially during the giving season, when we know many of you are beginning to turn your attention to tax planning and ensuring that you’ll meet your charitable goals before the end of December.

We are grateful for those of you who’ve already established a fund at the community foundation, and we are also grateful for those who are considering it. We’d love to work with you.

The community foundation is our region’s trusted source for all things philanthropy, and we are honored to serve you as you pursue the charitable endeavors that mean the most to you and your family.

In this issue of our Donor Connection, you can find helpful article topics such as:

  • Getting ahead of the year-end rush
  • Gifts of "complex" assets deliver multiple benefits
  • Crisis giving and avoiding pitfalls

Wishing you all the best for a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
