Dear Prayer Partners,
Thursday is another big day for the camp - some would argue that it's one of the best. The kids and campers get to make final decisions on their activities in the morning. Do I want to go to Imagination Station, go fishing at the lake or make something in one of the activity centers?
It was also a VERY BIG afternoon. It was Royal Tea Party day - such a favorite of everyone at camp. The girls got to dress up in their "Say Yes To The Dress" dress picked from the day before, wearing tiaras and bows. After such a special tea party, the girls got to top it off with swimming. The boys got to swim first and then they got to participate in "Dude Royal". The boys got to participate in a mobile ninja warrior obstacle course and a vertical ramp style wall. It was an adventure that personifies strength and endurance. A great experience for each royal dude.
Be praying for the kids as they start to think about going back home on Friday. Some of the kids have already started to act out and we just need to pray for them. Ask the Lord for a good night's rest and for a good return to their homes.
Pray also for the counselors and staff as tomorrow can be a very emotional day. We will covet your prayers.
Thankful for a great week of offering hope to these kids. They have once again found their way to our hearts!
Here's some great stories from our scribe:
During Chapel there is lots of singing, Drama act, and Bible story. There is one song that is sung several times. It starts out as “Our God is so big and so strong and so mighty there is nothing our God cannot do. Then there is a line that says, “God the Father, God the Spirit, God the Son, 1 + 1 + 1 = 1. One of the young campers looked at his counselors and could not figure out how the 1 + 1 + 1 could equal 1. That just did not make sense to him!!!!
Today, preparing for the procession of girls walking to the Tea Party, the girls were lined up by age and counselor. The boys were lined up along the sidewalk to cheer for the girls. As the girls began their walk, one of the boys saw his sister at the front of the line, leading the procession. He was overheard asking, “Why is my sister at the front of the line?” Then he stated, “Awwww, she’s soooo pretty!!!” So sweet!!
Wow! The boys had a Ninja Nation Course come for them as “Dude Royal” this afternoon. There were two different courses for them to try. The most complicated/challenging course was the “Warp Wall". They had to try to run up a sloped wall and reach a high platform. Even the counselors got involved in trying to succeed (which they did.) Two of the graduate boys worked so very hard and were finally successful. They were so cute and shy acting on their success. Soooo humble!
Blessings,
Darren
p.s. The buses will arrive at camp tomorrow on Friday around lunch. Pray for their safe arrival at camp as well as the return back to DFW once the kids are on board.
What a summer it's been!!!
