Moreno Valley Receives Nearly $4 Million in Road Safety Grants

During Tuesday's meeting, the Moreno Valley City Council approved nearly $4 million in grants to implement projects that ensure our roads remain as safe as ever.

One of those grants is a Local Highway Safety Improvement grant from Caltrans totaling over $3.3 million. Funds from this grant will go toward citywide traffic signal upgrades, safety improvements at the Iris Avenue corridor, safety improvements at signalized intersections on Perris Boulevard, and improving overnight traffic intersection visibility.

The City also accepted a $435,600 Safe Streets for All grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to explore several traffic calming initiatives, including speed humps and roundabouts. The grant money will also allow the City to conduct a truck traffic safety analysis and look into additional safety measures to protect our burro population.
