Canine Genetics Testing Submitters,

As previously communicated, all previously submitted samples are being retested to confirm results and sample quality. All samples will be tested with the new methodology. Cases that had previously been reported before November 6, 2023 will be issued a new report following the retest with a test comment that the sample was tested with the new method. Should we identify any results that do not match, you will be contacted directly to discuss before the report is issued.

We have defined clear laboratory criteria for sample rejection to prevent poor-quality samples from negatively impacting the tests. If the quality of your dog’s sample does not meet the quality requirements, you will be asked to submit a new sample. These initial requests for new samples have started to go out. At this time, we have only identified issues with cheek swab samples (not enough DNA is being collected). If you are planning to submit cheek swabs, please follow the linked protocol and ensure that there is prolonged swabbing and contact with the inside of the dog’s mouth and not just a light brush over the tissue. If you are able to have blood drawn from your dog, that is the preferred sample.

When submitting the new samples, please mark the sample with the name of the dog and the ADDL case number. The case number will be listed on the report in the top left corner as A24-0000. The reference to the case number will allow us to match the sample to your already existing case. No additional submission forms or online forms are needed.

Please contact us with any questions. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to provide accurate results of the highest quality.

Sincerely,

Kenitra Hendrix
