Soft Skill Credential Day

Friday, September 29 is the 1st Credential Day of the fall semester. There are no WTMC classes but WCC classes that meet on Fridays are in session.

Soft Skills are a central piece of WTMC culture. Students learn the skills and common language of soft skills for the first 6 weeks of the semester.

On the first Credential Day, all WTMC educators, advisors and counselors gather to discuss the progress of every student in WTMC classes. This ensures students are ready to move to the college level and gives advisors insight into their students’ needs and strengths.
A Guide to Soft Skill Grades

Students can expect to see one of the following soft skill grades for each class in PowerSchool:

  • S = Satisfactory: The student has demonstrated college-ready soft skills so far this semester and should continue to do so with the goal of earning a soft skill credential at the final Credential Day.

  • N = Needs Improvement: One or more soft skills needs work, or the student needs to be more consistent with soft skills in this class. Check PowerSchool for teacher comments, attendance or missing work.

*If you haven’t spoken with your student(s) about their soft skills, this is the perfect time.
