* New or updated

Thrive by 5 Early Learning QIS Applications Open Friday; Spots Limited *

Applications will open on Friday, September 22 to become a part of The Children’s Trust Thrive By 5 Early Learning Quality Improvement System (QIS). Through the Thrive by 5 QIS, early learning programs and teachers will have access to comprehensive opportunities to improve and sustain high-quality early learning programs. To access more information on Thrive By 5 QIS, including a description of benefits and supports CLICK HERE.

 

Licensed childcare programs that meet ALL the following criteria qualify to participate; those meeting some criteria may qualify, depending on available resources:

 

1. Serve 30 percent or more young children (under age 6) receiving a school readiness subsidy

2. Located in a high-poverty zipcode

3. Serve infants and toddlers 

 

Applications must be submitted NO LATER than September 29. For detailed instructions on how to apply please find the step-by-step guide here.  

 

Due to increased funding, we are expanding our current services. This is a LIMITED application process, meaning we will be accepting a limited number of programs. 


Providers that are currently participating in the Thrive By 5 QIS do not need to reapply, your participation will roll over.

In this training, teachers learn how to use reading assessment data from the ORF and Maze assessments to identify struggling readers and to develop reading intervention plans unique to each student. Certified teachers will also learn how to create a plan of action to differentiate reading instruction.


In addition, trainers will also address some of the most frequently asked questions that they have received from new providers related to the DLI, ORF and Maze literacy outcome assessments and changes to testing/testing windows. Project RISE staff will also stay online after the training ends to offer additional support.

Free Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Training *

Hope for Miami's Project Bridge offers YMHFA training to any adult who interacts with teens (or parents of adolescents). This course aims to increase mental health awareness through education on behavioral health and addictions & helps you recognize the potential early warning signs. Upcoming Question, Persuade, Refer Suicide Awareness Trainings

Learn the basics from a trained Gatekeeper about Question, Persuade, Refer, an evidence-based, suicide prevention intervention developed by Dr. Paul Quinett of the QPR Institute. Just like CPR, QPR is a lifesaving, emergency intervention for someone in crisis. It was developed to teach anyone who takes the training to be able to recognize the warning signs that a person might be considering suicide. QPR is not therapy. QPR teaches the following skills:


Question - How to ask a person if they are considering suicide.


Persuade - How to convince someone to get help.


Refer - How to refer someone to the appropriate resource.


After this presentation, you will be to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and gain knowledge on how and where to find help. Below are Zoom and in person trainings.

Funding for Organizations That Offer Scholarships & Support Wraparound Services for Underserved Students to Graduate From College

The Frederick A. Deluca Foundation is accepting proposals from organizations that provide scholarships and wraparound support to help underserved students graduate from college. Specifically, the foundation supports programs for populations including homeless, youth aging out of foster care, low-income, individuals with disabilities, etc. The foundation has served approximately 6,000 students through direct tuition and wraparound support for certifications, vocational and bachelor’s degrees. It is interested in investing in programs that help students earn a four-year degree and provide wraparound support for the students as they matriculate through school. The goal of the foundation is to increase the number of students served by 1,000 by the end of 2025. 


The foundation is currently accepting Letters of Inquiry (LOI) from direct service organizations, 

community foundations, schools, or educational organizations in the area of economic mobility, 

specifically scholarships. Application deadline is Friday, October 6.

Communications Specialist - $48,668 Annual

The Communications Specialist is responsible for assisting the Communications team with digital and traditional media, with a primary focus on social media and website content updates. The Communications Specialist will be the primary developer of social media content as directed by the Associate Director of Communications under the general guidance of the Director of Communications. Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Communications and working closely with the Media Manager, the incumbent will have creative latitude to develop visual, graphic and written content for social media and will assist with web content updates, as needed. Business Controller - $85,120-148,961 Annual

The Business Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of The Children' Trust. This includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of the work performed by the Accountants, Senior Accounting Analysts, Accounting Operations Manager and Fiscal Data Integrity Analyst of The Children’s Trust in accordance with The Children’s Trust (The Trust) procurement and accounting policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP), regulations promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and Government Auditing Standards. The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.

Certified Teachers needed for after-school programs (part-time). Teachers provide instruction and leadership based on selected academic and literary program components. Assistant Site Director

The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.

Site Coordinator

The Site Coordinator is responsible for site logistics and administration. The Coordinator works with the Business Manager on site transportation needs, manages supply inventory, coordinates field trips, distributes general Scholar and family communications, supports data collection and management, coordinates lunch and snack distribution and assists with volunteer management.


The individual in this role is organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Development Director

The Development Director will support the advancement functions of the organization, including building, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of donors for annual and multi-year gifts. The Director will focus on growing corporate giving. Responsibilities will include direct fundraising, fundraising activities coordination, stewardship and advancement-related administrative support in order to strengthen our work with donors and partners, thereby advancing mission, programs and impact.

Site Director

The Site Director manages the staff and day-to-day operations of the school-year and summer programs at one of Breakthrough Miami’s six host school sites. This position is responsible for ensuring all program operations are aligned with Breakthrough Miami’s vision, mission and goals; and for continuously improving educational enrichment and operational processes.

 

The individual in this role is able to operate effectively in diverse environments, achieve outcomes in a flexible, fast-paced environment, lead change and inspire others to action, and communicate consistently and effectively.


Director, BreakthroughU - College Access

The Director, BreakthroughU – College Access oversees all activities that support high school student college-preparedness, including all BreakthroughU site programs. The director will build relationships with students, parents, and key high school and college partners to help students build the life and leadership skills necessary to enroll in competitive colleges and pursue career goals. The Director plays a leadership role in developing program, and research partnerships with the University of Miami, and maintains mechanisms for ongoing engagement of BTM college-based alumni.
