Dear Friends,

It’s a summer tradition.

For over 40 years, SEED has been bringing free summer arts programming to the south end.  People still talk about the Seward Park Concert Series, which brought living icons to perform at Seward Park, including Terence Blanchard, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and local hero Ernestine Anderson. Many, many neighborhood kids came up through the Rainier Valley Youth Theater Program. Some have gone on to perform professionally and still grace the stages in our city.

In recent years, we’ve brought outdoor events to Columbia Park. Graced by Marvin Oliver’s stunning Spirit of Washington, this SEED supported sculpture grounds the art on this land.

This summer we’re bringing a lineup of live music, free family-friendly movies, and art openings. We’re continuing the tradition of outdoor Jazz shows, celebrating the local Khmer community, and watching movies under the stars. Come early for the farmer’s market, stay late for the great restaurants. I hope you can bring the family or the neighbors and join us.

All the best,
Michael Seiwerath, Executive Director
