Dear Residents –

If you happened to have driven by Veterans Memorial Park this week, you could not have missed water spouting into the air, dropping out of a bucket, or generally spraying in many directions. Yes, the much-awaited splash pad was up and running!

I know that many of you with little ones have already found your way over to the splash pad, but I want to personally invite everyone to the Official Grand Opening tomorrow at 1 pm (rain or shine). Please note that as our Parks and Recreation Department wants it to be in picture perfect condition for all of you, the splash pad will not be open tomorrow until after the ceremony.

With only seven days until school is out for the summer, I have no doubt that teachers and students everywhere are looking forward to their summer vacation. I too will be taking a summer “break,” of sorts, from my introduction to the newsletter. But have no fear, the newsletter will continue to go out weekly with important information and events going on around Orangetown and beyond. And, if you really miss hearing from me that much, you can tune in to WRCR AM 1700 radio or via WRCR Live Stream every Wednesday morning at 8:45 am. And, you can even call in to the show with questions or comments.

Monday, June 19, 2023, is Juneteenth and there are celebrations and events going on throughout the Hudson Valley. Tonight, at 6 pm, there will be a Juneteenth Celebration at the Flywheel Park in Piermont. I hope to see you there.

The Annual Carnival is going on at the Central Avenue Field in Pearl River, and it will run through Sunday, June 18, 2023. Proceeds from the carnival support the Pearl River Park and Activity Committee and, specifically, the cost of putting on the annual 4th of July fireworks display. So, if you haven’t already done so, try to stop by and spend a few dollars knowing that it will support a great cause.

Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy your Father’s Day!

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny
