My name is Catherine Sencion, the program coordinator for MESA, a college prep program serving 1st generation and low-income high school and middle school students that intends to enrich their curiosity in the STEM field. We are collaborating with Uber to offer a chance for undergraduate students to learn about various internship opportunities at the company who are interested in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and software engineering, but any major is welcome. 

We are the Graduate Student & Postdoctoral SACNAS chapter at UC Davis. As a part of our mission to increase diversity in STEM and inspire the next generation of scientists. We are holding our third annual Mentor Match program. We are looking for undergraduates applying to graduate school in the sciences this fall. Use this mentee application to learn more about the program and apply to be an undergraduate or postbac mentee. The deadline is October 2nd.

CARE, HEP, and Student Health and Counseling Services have moved to the Cowell Building, and we are having a Grand Opening next Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023, from 3:30 pm-5:30 pm.

In collaboration with The Cross Cultural Center and Outdoor Adventure we invite all of you to join us for an Outdoor Movie Night on October 5th from 7 to 10 pm!

The Hispanic Serving Institution initiative invites you to come to an information session about the HACU National Internship Program on October 4, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00PM. As an institutional member our students have the opportunity to apply for scholarships and internships offered by HACU. Their staff members are coming to campus to speak to our students about paid internships in a variety of federal agencies and provides virtual and onsite opportunities to gain career experience in the federal government. Another exciting opportunity is their support for travel and housing accommodations during your internship.

Celebrate California Latino Heritage Month

The California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) and its supporting departments, invite you to celebrate California Latino Heritage Month – Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger California. Through virtual and in-person events, CNRA departments, commissions, and conservancies will be honoring Latino leaders in the environmental field who work to protect the environment for current and future generations and encourage others to become environmental stewards.

Documentary Film: The Office of Governor Gavin Newsom, the California Natural Resources Agency and California State Parks hosts a screening and panel discussion of the documentary film “La Recua: Mule Pack Train. Free admission.

  • Description: In celebration of Latino Heritage Month, please join us for a California Natural Resources Agency screening and panel discussion of the documentary “La Recua: Mule Pack Train.” This captivating film follows Darío Higuera Meza, a traditional saddle maker in Baja California Sur, Mexico, as he travels 200 miles by mule pack train along Old Camino Real. The documentary thoughtfully explores the rich history of mule pack trains and their role in developing the ranching culture that has supported the Lower California peninsula for centuries. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Secretary Wade Crowfoot.

Castro Adobe Open House: Vaqueros, Bulls, and Bearrs! Oh my!

  • Description: State Parks invites you to tour Castro Adobe. This 90-minute tour is led by docents who will share the history of the Castro family, and the two-story adobe hacienda built over 170 years ago. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon touring Rancho San Andres Castro State Historic Property and learn about the Vaquero culture and living during the Mexican Rancho Period of California history.
