Ruck Day is Almost Here!

Ruck Day: Saturday, Nov. 4

Start: 8 a.m.

It's almost time for The Gammon! First, thank you for registering. This event is more than just rucking. We're honoring the life of our friend and colleague, Firefighter Paramedic Brant Gammon. We invite everyone to attend the Remembrance Ceremony at 8 a.m. at Heroes Memorial Park. The ruck will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m., immediately after the ceremony. The Fire Department will lead ruckers to the starting point.

Below, you'll find all of the details, maps, addresses, etc., that you'll need for a successful day. If you or your group has any questions, please feel free to contact our Special Events Coordinator, Jared, at jdawson@palmcoastgov.com or reply to this e-mail.

Relayers - we have indicated pick-up and drop-off points below. Please use these to avoid impeding fire operations at the stations. We encourage you to communicate with your team and arrange transportation to and from each point. We will have staff to assist if necessary. We encourage you to visit local parks, restaurants, and businesses while you wait for your leg to begin.

Ruckers under 18 years old - please see staff before the ruck begins. Your parent or guardian will need to sign an additional waiver.

First Aid - all fire stations are first aid points. There will also be staff roving with first aid kits. Staff will have an all-terrain vehicle on Leg 3 for emergencies on the trail portion. If you are in an actual emergency situation, please dial 9-1-1.

Water - we have water stations throughout the course. Please plan on having 8 oz./mile of water in your ruck or on your person. We will have some snacks available at the water stations - we encourage you to bring snacks you are comfortable with.

Restrooms - we have indicated the most convenient restrooms for each leg below. A few of them will take you slightly off course.

Event Shirts - we will have event shirts available for sale at the end of the ruck. The cost is $10 for registered participants and $15 for all others. Proceeds from the shirts will be donated to the scholarship fund. Shirts are available while supplies last, but we can order additional shirts if necessary.

Remember, this is not a race. There are no winners or losers - this is about the team effort, working together for a common goal. This is going to be a long day - let's be safe, be smart, and have fun.
