Summer is defined as the “warmer half of the year” and a “period of maturing powers". No doubt, the warmth of summer is finally here, and with it comes a host of amazing opportunities just waiting for us, and a period that allows our powers to mature. How do you plan to take advantage of your ordinary (but, really, extraordinary) opportunities?
In my house, summer is all about the kids' camps, squeezing in some vacation time, getting out to cool outdoor events, and hitting the golf course. The summer season brings a special kind of excitement that fills us with energy and the desire to connect with our loved ones and friends, both the old and the new. This summer, I invite you to soak up the beauty of these summer months and appreciate all those little things that have the power to rejuvenate and help us reach new heights.
This summer you might find yourself taking a daily stroll with a family member or your best friend, diving into a refreshing pool on a scorching day, spending an entire day at the beach with your loved ones, or just chilling out and grilling some delicious barbecue on a lazy Sunday afternoon. These moments might seem ordinary, but they do so much more than just help us relax. They light a fire within us, nurture our well-being, and even have the power to boost our professional lives.
Personally, I see summer as the perfect chance to spend some quality time with my family and friends. We all know how rare free time can be in our busy lives, right? That's why I treasure the moments we share and the incredible memories we create together. Whether it's cheering on my daughter during her track meets or at soccer games, witnessing my son's skills playing Jeopardy, on the tennis court or the golf course, embarking on wild family adventures on a river in Georgia, or simply relaxing by the pool, these experiences remind me of the importance of love, laughter, and those connections that go beyond our professional careers.
So, as we navigate through our work lives this summer, let's not forget to hit the pause button, take a deep breath, and truly embrace the extraordinary in the ordinary moments. Imagine the sun's warm rays enveloping you, the inspiring beauty of nature surrounding you, and the love and support of your friends and family guiding you towards a renewed sense of energy and inspiration, both at home and in the office.
In closing, I wish you a summer filled to the brim with amazing opportunities, personal growth, and those unforgettable moments that you'll cherish forever. New Florida Statute Changes Retainage and Prompt Pay Requirements on State and Local Government Construction Projects

On May 25, 2023, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law Senate Bill 346 (“SB 346”), which makes substantial changes to Florida construction law regarding prompt payment and retainage requirements on contracts between state and local governments and construction contractors on Florida construction projects for these governmental entities. These changes, which will be effective beginning on July 1, 2023, include changes to section 218.735, Florida Statutes, for local governments, and sections 255.073, 255.077 and 255.078 for state government entities, regarding creation of punch lists, prompt payment of retainage, and payment disputes.

Roll out the red carpet for a lunchtime blockbuster! Movie trivia and Pizza took center stage as teams showcased their reel-y great expertise. With each group vying for the coveted title of movie trivia champion, the excitement in the room was palpable. Laughter and camaraderie filled the scene as we celebrated an Oscar-worthy lunch hour, proving that in our office, the pursuit of knowledge is always a box office hit! |

Our annual mini-golf competition took on a 'Games' theme, and the creativity displayed was simply incredible! The summer associates and interns proved to be true masters of innovation as they aced their way through the course with remarkable twists and turns. With excitement and friendly rivalry in the air, we celebrated a par-tee time that left us in awe of the boundless talent and enthusiasm of our participants!
