The application can be found (https://forms.gle/12EMEGCftdHaSect6).

Research Experience in Surgery (RESURG) at UC Davis is an exciting new internship involving clinical research within the Department of Surgery, UC Davis Medical Center. Studies that we are working on range from the topics including but not limited to vascular disease, bariatric surgery, telemedicine, and trauma. We are looking for individuals who are driven, hardworking, creative, and effective communicators. This is a rigorous program that offers unique mentorship opportunities with experienced researchers and clinicians. Our goal is to train competent research professionals and to further students’ individual professional and educational goals.

Currently, we have 3 positions available:

1. Research Assistant(s)

2. Data Specialist(s)

3. Pediatric Research Assistant(s)

If accepted, students will be required to commit to at least three quarters (Winter 2024, Spring 2024, Summer 2024) for at least 8 hours per week. This is completed in two 4 hour time slots between 7 AM-5 PM on Mondays-Fridays (tentative weekend options). RESURG is a mostly remote program and the majority of hours will be completed remotely.

Additionally, there will be mandatory 2 hour group training classes held weekly during Winter Quarter 2024; time to be disclosed upon acceptance. During the training in Winter Quarter 2024, students will be placed on a probationary period. Towards the conclusion of the training quarter, students will be re-interviewed to assess their learning and readiness for clinical research duties.

The DEADLINE for submitting this application is 11:59pm on Monday, November 6, 2023. If selected, you will hear back from us between November 13th - November 15th and we will schedule an interview with you between November 18th - November 19th. Campus Events and Resources

I hope this email finds you well and that you've all been having a great fall quarter so far! You may have heard of us before, but if you haven't, we are SOL y LUNA (Students Obtaining Leadership & Latinxs United in Navigating Academia), a community program within the SRRC (Student Recruitment and Retention Center). We are a student-run student-led program that strives to support our UC Davis community that has cultural ties to Latin America and the Caribbean. We do this through recruitment, by connecting with local middle schools and high schools, and retention, by creating programming for our community here at Davis!

As a retention initiative this year we are going to be continuing our annual first year dinner, highlighting those students that are still making the transition into higher education. This year however we are hoping to also involve upperclass folks who can share some of their experiences as college students with these first years at our dinner.

Because of this, we would like to warmly invite you all to join us at our first-year dinner on November 2nd from 5-7pm! This event will be taking place at CASA Cuauhtémoc lounge AKA Thompson Hall in Segundo. We will be having tamales, supplies to make paper flower bouquets, and just offering a space for first years to share some of their concerns or worries coming into higher education. We hope they will also get a chance to hear from upperclass folks who have gone through those same struggles and are able to offer them advice and encouragement to continue their educational journey <3

Once again, please feel free to share this event with students who may be interested as well as any student leaders who would like to speak with and interact with first years. If anyone is interested, please have them fill out this form so we can make sure to have enough food and supplies! I've also attached the flyer for reference.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We hope to see you there!

Con amor y ternura,

SOL y LUNA

I would like to invite you and the communities you serve to an upcoming event that we are hosting in partnership with the City of Davis Art & Cultural Affairs Program that promises to be both thought-provoking and inspiring: Lights, Camera, Conversation: A film screening and night with the director and cast of the award-winning documentary 'FROM HERE'.

Watch the attached video for a special invite from the film’s director and read more about the event in our The Davis Enterprise feature!

About the Event: 'FROM HERE' is a powerful documentary that offers a compelling coming-of-age portrait of young people caught in the crosshairs of immigration debates on both sides of the Atlantic. With so much happening globally, the idea of what it means to belong is as important as ever. We are honored to host the film's director, Christina Antonakos-Wallace, as well as two of the film's protagonists for a Q&A session following the screening. Oh.. and there will be a popcorn bar!

Register for your free ticket on Eventbrite now.

If you are able, it would be wonderful to have your support to get the word out. A flyer is attached but I also have sample tweets, posts, posters, and other materials that I can provide if you would like to help us promote this event.

Thank you and I hope to see you at the Davis Veterans Memorial Theatre for 'FROM HERE' next Thursday! Together, we can make a meaningful impact through the arts and cultural exchange.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!
