Sunshine Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Diversity That Makes Us Strong
Hispanic Heritage Month, which is observed throughout the country from September 15th to October 15th, is a time for Sunshine to recognize, honor and appreciate all of our team members who are of proud Hispanic Heritage.

“Our company is stronger because of the rich and diverse contributions of our Hispanic colleagues,” said Randy Kierce, Sunshine Vice President. “We salute those team members who celebrate their heritage this month.”

Hispanic Heritage Month began in 1968 when President Lyndon B. Johnson made the bold move to acknowledge the contributions of Hispanic Americans. He believed that recognition was crucial for promoting understanding and fostering unity among diverse communities.

September 15th marks the independent anniversaries in five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico's Independence Day is September 16th, while Chile's is September 18th.

“Throughout this month, we look forward to recognizing the remarkable contributions of the various Hispanic cultures that have made significant impacts on the traditions, arts and customs we all enjoy today,” added Kierce.
Tip of the Month
Tackling Stubborn Carpet Stains
Work from the outside in
When dealing with pesky carpet stains, remember this golden rule: start from the outer edges of the stain and work your way towards the center.

This smart technique helps prevent the stain from spreading, making it easier to tackle and leaving your carpet looking as good as new.

Shining a Light on Rolando Perez
Proud to be hispanic
Rolando Perez, whose family roots are Cuban, was born and raised in South Florida. He lives in Pembroke Pines with his wife, who is from Columbia, and their 8-year-old daughter. Hispanic Heritage Month for him is an opportunity to celebrate both the similarities and the differences of all Hispanic cultures.

“We all share a rich heritage,” he said, “I’m proud to be part of a celebration that recognizes so many different cultures united under one umbrella that is Hispanic.”

Perez joined Sunshine about 1.5 years ago as an area manager. He applies his more than 15 years of experience in the commercial cleaning industry to managing the company’s operations in South Broward County and North Miami. Among his many responsibilities are overseeing municipal facilities of the cities of Tamarac, Sunrise, and Miami Gardens, including six regional Broward County Libraries.

The people interaction, he says, makes his job rewarding. “I love working with the clients and my co-workers, being active and enjoying so much variety. Sunshine is a great company and I’m proud to be part of the team.”

Hints for Healthier Living
The dangers of dust
Dust may seem innocuous, yet these seemingly harmless particles can wreak havoc on our health, the environment, even our technological devices. Consider these perils alone:

  • Dust that is inhaled deep into the lungs can result in a wide range of health issues, including allergies, asthma, bronchitis, even chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
  • In addition to allergens, dust can carry bacteria and viruses, increasing the risk of infections.
  • Dust can trap and transport various contaminants, such as chemicals, pollutants, or toxins, and contribute to indoor air quality.
  • If proper dust management and control measures are not in place, the accumulation of these particles can be a fire hazard.
  • When dust penetrates sensitive electronic equipment, including keyboards and other components, the lifespan of the device can be shortened or overheating, short-circuits, even breakdowns can occur.

The teams at Sunshine are well aware of the hazards of dust and therefore, work hard to protect all of our clients with thorough and regular cleaning.
