Homecoming 2023: Queen candidates
Thirty-eight students are candidates for 2023 Homecoming queen at WKU. The 2023 queen will be crowned Saturday, Nov. 11, during halftime of WKU Football vs. New Mexico State at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.

This year’s Homecoming theme is Big Red, White, and Blue. Queen candidates will participate in activities during Homecoming Week including a fall social on Sunday (Nov. 5), an interview on Tuesday (Nov. 7), a banquet on Wednesday (Nov. 8), a volunteer experience and the Homecoming parade/Big Red’s Roar on Friday (Nov. 10). WKU students will cast their votes for queen in online balloting on Monday (Nov. 6).
Light Up BGKY to kick off at Cherry Hall
Light Up BGKY, a new weeklong holiday lighting tradition, will kick off at 4 p.m. November 27 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at WKU’s Cherry Hall with President Timothy C. Caboni and Big Red. Light Up BGKY events will continue through December 3 at several other venues and community organizations.
CLIMBING HIGHER
The Kentucky Museum is hosting ArtWorks, Inc.'s Fall Juried Exhibition through November 17. An opening reception and awards presentation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Learn More
ONE WKU: Hope for Peace
As a community we have watched the events unfolding in Israel and Gaza with horror; such acts can never be justified. Right now, there are people in our campus and Bowling Green community who are clearly hurting, and they are our priority.
Spotlight: Dr. Cheryl Hopson
Dr. Cheryl R. Hopson, an associate professor of English and African American Studies in the Department of English at WKU, has several published poems and books of poetry.
Regents committees to meet
The WKU Board of Regents will conduct committee meetings at 9 a.m. Friday in the Martin Regents Room of Jody Richards Hall.
Folk Studies to host oral history meet-up on Nov. 17
With funding support from the Oral History Association, the WKU Department of Folk Studies & Anthropology and the Kentucky Folklife Program will host a meet-up for oral historians in Southcentral and West Kentucky on November 17 to socialize and discuss topics such as projects, funding, archiving, the impact of COVID-19, and new technologies.
Lost River Sessions tonight
The Lost River Sessions LIVE Fall 2023 season will continue tonight featuring The Banditos and opening act the Bowling Green Rock Band Academy. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at The Capitol in downtown Bowling Green. Tickets are $15; WKU students admitted free with student ID.
Jordan Davis Concert Tuesday
Here's a reminder that country star Jordan Davis will present a free pregame concert at 5 p.m. Tuesday on the South Lawn. More: Provost's message to campus
College Heights Foundation annual report available online
Check out the College Heights Foundation’s 2022 annual report to learn more about CHF accomplishments, the WKU Opportunity Fund, and the ways you can support the CHF. Last year, the CHF’s asset total reached a record high at $227 million. The CHF administers more than 1,500 funds awarding almost 3,000 WKU students more than $6.8 million in scholarships.
Summit of the South
Registration is open for Summit of the South, a free entrepreneurship event, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. November 16 at the WKU Innovation Campus, 2413 Nashville Road.
