WeVote Suggested Activity:

Schedule an Election Briefing

We’re excited to restart our

election briefings this fall!

Whether you are part of a university, registered community organization, or a large-member nonprofit organization, we’d love to discuss important issues, answer your questions, and share easy-to-use resources during a briefing with your team in preparation for the upcoming election on November 5th.

We've already scheduled several sessions with our partners, but we still have plenty of availability to support your organization. These briefings are available both virtually and in-person.

Some of our most popular topics include:

a. What's on your Ballot

Get ready for the upcoming election by learning about the different offices, candidates, and ballot measures that will appear on your ballot. This session provides an overview of the key issues, how to research candidates, and tips for making informed decisions when you vote. Ideal for voters who want to be well-prepared and confident on Election Day.

b. Poll Worker Information Session

Interested in helping out on Election Day? This session will provide you with all the information you need to become a poll worker. Learn about the roles and responsibilities, the training requirements, and the crucial part poll workers play in ensuring a smooth and fair voting process. A great opportunity for those who want to support their community and democracy firsthand.

c. How Philly Works

Unlock the secrets of Philadelphia's city government with the Committee of Seventy's dynamic presentation on "How Philly Works." This 60-minute session, based on our 2023 guide, offers an exploration of the powers and responsibilities of the offices you vote for in Philadelphia. Whether you're a community leader, activist, or curious resident, this presentation will equip you with the knowledge and tools to be a powerful advocate for your community.

WeVote Partner Spotlight:

#CCPVotes

On August 14th, the Committee of Seventy (C70) facilitated a workshop for CCPVotes, the civic engagement arm of the Community College of Philadelphia, to clarify the electoral process from primaries to Inauguration Day. The session covered key topics such as the difference between a presumptive and certified nominee, the roles of delegates and superdelegates at conventions, the distinction between the popular vote and the Electoral College, and the timeline from Election Day to Inauguration Day. The workshop aimed to empower participants with a clear understanding of these concepts, helping them engage more confidently in the election process.

Sign up to be a poll worker!

Elections would be impossible without the hard work of poll workers throughout the Commonwealth. In fact, more than 40,000 poll workers are needed twice a year, every year, to staff the polls across Pennsylvania. There is still time to sign up to be a poll worker for the upcoming election. If you are able to work the polls on November 5th, please consider signing up today!

Interested in other

volunteer opportunities?

In addition to opportunities for Pennsylvanians to serve on Election Day as poll workers, there are also opportunities for those who can't commit to the long hours required on Election Day. Some counties need help with their post-election canvassing of mail and absentee ballots. Under current law, this process begins at 7 a.m. on Election Day. It's likely counties are more willing and able to consider much shorter shifts for the people who would want to do this job. Responsibilities include opening ballot envelopes, removing the ballot from the inner envelope, unfolding and flattening ballots, scanning ballots or serving as runners to move batches between stations.

To find out if your county needs help with post-election canvassing, please contact your local Board of Elections.

Did you know that astronauts are able to vote from space? Voting in space has been possible since 1997! Secure electronic ballots are uplinked by Johnson’s Mission Control Center to a voting crew member aboard the International Space Station. Astronauts are able to cast their vote and then their completed, encoded ballots are downlinked and delivered to the County Clerk’s office by email. Many astronauts choose to vote as Texas residents because Houston is where they complete their training!
