As we approach the last days of 2023, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank our customers and partners for their collaboration. CHFA is honored to have broken records, surpassed milestones, and received several awards throughout this past year. While we are honored for the recognition and accomplishments, we are humbled and take pride in knowing that what these combined efforts truly reflect is our work together to open doors for more Coloradans to achieve housing stability and economic prosperity this year and beyond. A few 2023 highlights are included below:
- CHFA helped over 5,500 Colorado homebuyers achieve homeownership with over $1.9B in first mortgage loans and more than $73M awarded in down payment assistance.
- More than 5,600 affordable rental housing units were supported with Housing Tax Credits, Private Activity Bonds (PABs) or loans.
- CHFA invested in more than 500 Colorado businesses, impacting approximately 3,000 jobs across the state.
- More than 390 Colorado nonprofits were supported with sponsorships, grants, and donations.
- A total of 18 multifamily loan commitments were made totaling more than $158M, the second highest annual total in CHFA’s history.
- Issued a total of $1.53B in single family and multifamily housing bonds. This is an all-time record for CHFA, and places CHFA first in the nation for single family housing bond issuances and second in the nation for combined single family and multifamily bond issuances.
- Received a record-breaking $65M New Markets Tax Credit award from the US Dept of Treasury to support economic investment in under-served neighborhoods and communities. CHFA’s award was tied for the largest amount given to any awardee nationwide in this award round, and the biggest in CHFA’s history.
- Collaborated with OEDIT to launch new Land Banking, Concessionary Debt, and Modular Finance programs established by Proposition 123 which, combined, will offer $94M in new resources for affordable housing in their first year.
- Named 13th U.S. Best Place to Work in the Financial Services & Insurance sector by Fortune Magazine and named one of the 2023 Great Places to Work: Best Workplaces for Parents.
- Received the 2023 Inclusiveness@Work Award from the Center for Legal Inclusiveness (CLI).
The above figures reflect preliminary estimates. Comprehensive year-end data will be available in early March 2024 upon publication of CHFA’s 2023 Community Report.

chfa launches new resource for affordable housing developers |
On Friday, December 15th, CHFA launched a new online resource: the Colorado Multifamily Affordable Housing Electrification Hub. This site will serve as an interactive tool designed to help equip the multifamily affordable housing community in Colorado with technical and practical knowledge related to electrification design including case studies, technical explainers, and a searchable library of financing and development resources.
CHFA hosted a 30-minute webinar that included a demonstration of the site. The recording of the webinar is available online. Questions about the Hub and suggestions for future content additions may be submitted to multifamily-ehub@chfainfo.com.
The Colorado Multifamily Electrification Hub is proudly offered by Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) in partnership with Colorado Energy Office (CEO), the Department of Local Affairs, Division of Housing (DOLA-DOH), Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC), Group14 Engineering, the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), and Enterprise Community Partners.

$33,255 raised in social media fundraising campaign |
Each year during the holiday season, CHFA partners with a Colorado nonprofit for a social media fundraising campaign called Like it Forward. Throughout the campaign, posts highlighting that nonprofit organization’s work are shared on CHFA’s social media accounts, and CHFA donates $5 for each like or share the posts earn throughout the campaign.
This year’s Like it Forward fundraiser benefited Kids at Their Best, an organization based in Fort Morgan whose mission is to inspire, educate and empower young people from low-income families to build resilience and strengthen their life trajectory. This year’s campaign attracted enthusiastic support, raising a grand total of $33,255. That represents 6,651 total likes and shares, and it’s the highest amount ever raised during a Like it Forward fundraising campaign!
Congratulations to this worthy nonprofit organization and thank you for the great work you do to serve young people in Fort Morgan!
