Curriculum Renewal: Town Hall

On June 12, nearly 161 Zucker School of Medicine faculty, staff, students and alumni participated virtually in a Curriculum Renewal Town Hall, hosted by Vice Dean Dr. Samara Ginzburg. The Town Hall served to update the ZSOM community on the school's Curriculum Renewal efforts since the process was kicked off last June.

During the Town Hall, the three Curious Questioning Teams, Technology, Constructs and Outputs, provided a full summary of their findings. Attendees also learned about the important information that was gleaned from our Patient Perspective Focus Groups and Curriculum Renewal next steps.

Curriculum Renewal: Summer Retreat

On June 20 & 22, Dr. Matthew Whitson, assistant professor of Medicine, and Annalise Ellis, assistant dean for Academic Support and Administration, led the online and in-person Curriculum Renewal Summer Retreat with a combined attendance of over 60 faculty, students, alums, and staff members from the Zucker School of Medicine, Hofstra University and Northwell Health community. The retreat resulted in working definitions for 15 word-themes, or competencies, necessary for our future doctors. To read more about the Summer Retreat, click here.

Curriculum Renewal: Speaker Series

That's a Wrap!

Our Curriculum Renewal Speaker Series wrapped last month with the final speaker, Debra L. Klamen, MD, MHPE, FAPA, professor and chair of the Department of Medical Education at SIU School of Medicine, providing a thought-provoking topic titled, "If It Ain’t Broke, Make it Better.”  

The Speaker Series featured 16 speakers with a total of 900 participants.
