The City of Grass Valley has recently approved the plans for the 43rd Habitat Home. The new home, which will be the fifth in Nevada County Habitat’s Park Place neighborhood will be built on Orchard Way, and construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
Angela, a mother of three. is Habitat’s next future homeowner, and she is delighted with this step forward. In the last seven years, Angela has moved her family six times due to affordability and the rentals she occupied being sold. “Thanks to Habitat we will have a permanent, affordable home. “
When Angela decided to apply to Habitat’s affordable homeownership program, she was experiencing housing instability and raising three children on her own. Although Angela was not initially selected, the process of applying for Habitat homeownership was life changing. “Each application period I paid down more bills and became a stronger applicant. Even though I was not selected the first time, I knew that every year Habitat would be building more homes. I had faith that if I kept doing the work and showing up for my family, we would be able to own our home.”
Angela is looking forward to working on the construction site!
