Meet the Newest OLLI at MSU Staff Member - Rab Cummings
Born near Seattle, Washington, Rab enjoyed a highly unconventional childhood as the son of a veterinary science professor. He spent his youth paddling canoes through Canada’s hinterlands, deepening his love and understanding of the natural world and committing himself to teaching others about the world and all that is in it.
After earning a degree in Natural Resource Management from the University of Montana, Rab has dedicated his working life to teaching natural history, conservation and cultural history in some of the wildest places on earth, including Alaska, British Columbia, Mexico, Belize and Antarctica.
More recently, Rab helped to found Peak Academy, a small project-based school in Bozeman, where he taught 4-8th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies and coordinated field expeditions. Rab brings lively storytelling and rich connections between nature and culture to the OLLI at MSU community.
When he is not coordinating programs for OLLI at MSU, you can find Rab paddling local rivers, calling local contra and square dances, and competing in dog agility with Loki, his lighting fast Border Collie.

We strive to keep member participation affordable so everyone 50 years of age and better can engage with us in lifelong learning. We also understand that program or event fees can sometimes be prohibitive. Therefore, OLLI at MSU offers financial assistance for both tuition and membership.
We are grateful to the family and friends of our late OLLI at MSU leader and consummate lifelong learner, Doug Young, for establishing the Doug Young Memorial Scholarship Fund. We encourage you to apply for membership or program tuition assistance as needed and encourage your neighbor or friend to do the same. Our application is quick and easy. Click or tap here to view more information or apply for financial assistance.
Online donations are also encouraged to help us sustain and support the OLLI at MSU Doug Young Memorial Scholarship fund and OLLI at MSU general program fund.
