Program Director Promotions
Freeride Program Director Wynter McBride was born and raised in Ogden, UT. She started skiing at Snowbasin at a very young age. Since then she has competed in slope style, rail jams, and currently competes in freeride competitions on the Freeride World Qualifier tour. She has a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition Education with an emphasis in Integrative Nutrition from Weber State University. She is passionate about wellness and supporting athletes to reach their goals in skiing. She has been coaching with SSEF since 2020 and Head Freeride Coach since 2021. Outside of skiing she loves to mountain bike and paint.

Devo Program Director Matt Bird has had a passion for skiing his whole life. He began skiing at age three at Bogus Basin in Boise, Idaho, and then skied at Paoli Peaks in Indiana. He moved to Utah at age 10 and skied at Snowbasin, Nordic Valley, and Powder Mountain. Some of his best memories are skiing with friends and family while freezing on the old Wildcat and Middle Bowl lifts. He was a ski instructor at Nordic Valley for three years and has been working at Snowbasin for the past seven years. He loves to teach youth and has been working with them ever since his coaching career began. During the off-season, he spends his time riding his mountain or road bike with his kids. His pot-belly full of tortillas is really what makes him so speedily fly down the mountain!

Coach Spotlight: Alison Putnam
Welcome to our new and returning athletes and families. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you as I start my 15th season as a coach with the Snowbasin Ski Team and my 32nd year overall. Numerous people ask me each year if I’m going to continue to coach, and I keep replying, “yes!” My passion for the sport of skiing and ski racing keeps me coming back, as well as watching the athletes’ personal growth on and off the hill. I want to pass on to the next generation all the joys and lessons I have gained from the sport over the past 50 years as an athlete and coach. The Snowbasin Ski Team community also keeps me coming back.

I grew up ski racing in Vermont and was a top ranked junior racer, competing in Jr. Olympics, Nor-Ams, and U.S. Nationals and went on to race for the University of Vermont, a NCAA Division 1 ski team. After college I raced on the Women’s Pro Ski Tour for 2 years. My coaching career started in VT with the GMVS Jr. Race Program, and then I moved on to run the race program at Mad River Glen for 3 years. From VT I moved to Oregon and spent 7 years coaching for the Mt. Hood Race Team before landing in Utah. I am a USSA level 300 Alpine Coach.

The Snowbasin Ski Team has been a family affair, as both my daughters were members of the team and my husband was a former board member. My daughters are now starting their own coaching careers in Vermont. When I’m not on the hill you can find me teaching 4th grade.
