Welcome to A Generous LIFE!

The stewardship team at Lord of Life has been collecting stories of God’s abundance revealed through the life and action of our congregation. We hope you enjoy reading about how your friends, pew-mates, and fellow disciples have been touched by God’s grace and are being led to lives of generosity.

When Tim Donoughue first came to Lord of Life after moving to The Woodlands, he was hoping to make friends and find a church home for his family. When Lord of Life decided to seed a new ELCA church in Montgomery County, Tim and his family committed to becoming part of that church’s start-up congregation. Eight years later, in a conversation with our then Lord of Life associate pastor, Tim expressed that the other church did not seem like a good fit for him at that point in his life. Pastor Kevin invited Tim to return to Lord of Life to “come and be fed.” At that time, Tim was looking for a place to just participate in church activities and to feel that he could rest. When he and his family returned to Lord of Life, Tim already knew people here, so it immediately felt like his church home.

Tim says that he learned generosity through the generosity offered to his childhood family by others. His family did not have “a lot of money,” and they benefited from the help of many people along the way.

Tim appreciates that the ministry of Lord of Life grows and improves. He chooses to support Lord of Life with his financial gifts for two reasons. He knows that these gifts are needed for all of us to enjoy the ministries at Lord of Life, and he also – based on his personal history – wants to “pay it forward.”

Tim’s hope for the future of Lord of Life for future generations is that we can be more inclusive, more loving, less focused on ourselves, and more focused on others.
