The Gift of Toastmasters
During the Holiday Season feel free to gift a family member or friend with a Toastmasters membership for your club.
In addition, a member of your club may offer a scholarship to a fellow member of your club. Please note that club dues are not allowed to pay for another member per the Toastmasters By-laws.
The gift of membership will have the added benefit of helping your club be in good standing, 8 or more members.
When your club is in good standing, they may send contestants that are also in good standing with their dues paid for and have completed the first two pathways levels or have earned a DTM.
Along with that, your club will have a voice voting in District Leaders within District 65 and at the Internal Elections.
Kind Regards,
Samuel Otto, DTM

Speechcraft Incentive
Speechcraft is an abbreviated Toastmasters experience, like a mini college course on speaking. It is designed for non-members, run by experienced club members. It can be 4, 6, or 8 weeks long. Speechcraft is also an excellent membership building tool.
Our District team would be happy to help you get you started! We’re offering free Speechcraft ($50.00 value) to all District 65 clubs that run a Speechcraft between October 2023 to May 2024.

Dear Patty,
I just found out I need to have completed L1 and L2 in Pathways in order to compete in my club’s International Speech contest. I’ve completed L1 and am partway through L2 with 2 speeches left.
My club has 2 more meetings before the contest. I’d like to give a speech at both meetings, but my VP Education says I can’t give speeches that close together. What should I do?

Dear Eager,
You are allowed to give speeches at 2 consecutive meetings. I’m not sure why your VPE says you can't unless the speaking slots are already taken at your club’s next 2 meetings. An option would be to contact another club. Lots of clubs are looking for more speakers.
As a member of Toastmasters, you can visit and participate in any club in the world – if they have room for you on their agenda. Reach out to another club. To find one, you could ask your Area Director or you could check “Find A Club” on www.toastmasters.org.
Be sure to complete your L2 online. Let your VP Education know what you are doing so they can approve your level completion in Base Camp.
Good luck in the contest!
Patty
