THANK YOU!

DANIEL CAMERON SUPPORTS AM RADIO

The Kentucky Broadcasters Association would like to thank Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron for his support of AM radio. Cameron, along with 15 other Attorney Generals from across the nation, recently expressed their concern about the decision of several organizations to eliminate AM radios in electric cars. In a letter addressed to the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) and the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA), the Republican attorneys general highlighted the important role AM radio plays in ensuring the safety and well-being of Americans.

Their letter marks another step in the bipartisan push to protect the AM band.

QUARTERLY ISSUES

UPLOAD TO PUBLIC FILE BY JULY 10TH

Quarterly Issues/Programs Lists are required to be uploaded to your stations public file no later than July 10th. All commercial and noncommercial full-power radio and TV stations (including Class A TV stations) are required by the FCC to demonstrate how a broadcast station served the needs and interests of its community of license and its service area, as required by the Communications Act. The quarterly lists must demonstrate that the station has met its obligation to serve the public interest through issue-responsive programming.

MAKING A CHANGE

DIA DAVIDSON RETIRES FROM WLEX-TV

After nearly 23 years of faithful service to LEX 18 and the Central Kentucky community, Dia Davidson has turned off the very early morning alarm to begin a new chapter in her life. She’s leaving LEX 18, but the stations loss will be a gain for Fayette County Public Schools. Dia is staying in Lexington and will be the Chief Public Engagement Officer for the district.

Davidson began at LEX 18 in December of 2000. During that time, she’s anchored virtually every newscast at that station, including LEX 18 News at Sunrise.

“When I arrived in Lexington, I was immediately embraced by the viewers and was proud to anchor the #1 morning show in the market, LEX 18 News at Sunrise, for 10 years before returning to the show I loved in December 2021,” said Davidson. “Chris Goodman and Tom Ackerman are more than colleagues; they are dear friends.”

Davidson has covered huge news events during her time at LEX 18, from the Kentucky Derby to the 2003 ice storm in Central Kentucky.

“It’s hard to imagine Dia not being part of the LEX 18 family. Her immense contributions and service to our newsroom and communities in Central & Eastern Kentucky have been steadfast, and she will be missed by us all,” said Shenkan. “We wish her the very best in her new capacity at Fayette County Public Schools.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

When my daughter Breanna was very young her mother and I started a tradition called “Surprise Monday.”  We did this because it seems the world hates Monday’s and we wanted our daughter to not be brought down by the negativity.  Surprise Monday could have been as simple as a new pencil, or a coloring book.  It wasn’t so much about the item; it was about the expectation.  Having her look forward to Monday was the goal.  To this day Bree loves Monday and has continued the tradition with her daughters.

The word expectation comes from the Latin word expectationem, meaning "an awaiting." If you have great expectations, you think something good will come your way, but if keep your expectations low, you won't risk being disappointed.

Expectations are more than fleeing thoughts, they are based on your deeper beliefs.  What do you believe you deserve?  Do you believe you deserve to be successful?  Do you believe you deserve to have nice things? Do you believe in being nice to people and treating them with kindness?  Do you believe others do the same? Your belief’s form your expectations and your expectations become your reality.

“That client will never buy”

“I can’t ask them to spend that much, they’ll get mad”

“Another cancellation, this always happens to me”

“That person is always rude”

Those are all belief’s that are expressed as expectations.

One of the greatest gifts my mentor Bill Mann every gave me was to enroll me in a program with Lou Tice of the Pacific Institute.  Lou is no longer with us, but his groundbreaking work on the power of ensuring your beliefs and your expectations are consistent with what you want to accomplish lives on. (I still have my cassette case box, and Bill and I still quote Lou) You don’t get what you want in life, you get what you expect.  And your expectations come from your beliefs.

Bill told me very early in my career, “Jeffrey, there isn’t a problem you can’t overcome, a challenge you can’t get past.  The biggest obstacle you will face in your career is the noise between your ears.”  Bill believed in me and challenged me to control my self-talk.

Most people don’t think about what they think about. Did you ever think about that?
