“WELCOME!"
We are so glad you are here!”

As we enter our church, as we live as members, as we experience important life-cycle events (falling in love, marrying, parenting, baptism, coming out, transitioning, etc.), words of welcome and support, understanding and love are what we all long for. This manifestation of God’s Extravagant Welcome and the justice and social witness that accompany it are the heart of what we hope to show our community and all who walk through the doors of Christ Congregational United Church of Christ.

PEACE BE WITH YOU!

July 7, 2023

Dear Congregation,

Post Independence Day greetings to you! Those of us who were involved in the two events at which CCC had an informational tent on July 4th in Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay are praising God for the church’s successful outreach to the community! Thanks so much to Karen Kett, Miriam Grissett, David Williams, Bianca Montenegro, Eric Johnson, Daniel Best, and Graham Bryan for working on that very hot, but festive, day! I really was glad to be there for the debut of our tent/booth and colorful banners at Whispering Pines, too!

As you can see from the collage of pictures, we not only enjoyed interacting with a large number of people who stopped by our booth, but we were able to share information about the church and our future activities such as forming a Community Choir on October 18th and offering a Moonlight Drum Circle in the Garden Chapel on September 27th. We also offered freebies bearing CCC’s name—glow-in-the-dark bracelets, chip clips, fans, flags, fairy wings, and pens. (Each of you attending worship this Sunday will receive one of these new pens imprinted with our logo, church name, and web address!)

We have focused in worship these past two Sundays on Jesus’ words to his disciples as he sent them out into the world to do his work (Matthew 10:24-42). It was in that same spirit that we gave out, not a cup of cold water, but a small bottle of cold water that was gratefully received. Hopefully, the message we shared that a progressive church that welcomes all is right here in the neighborhood, so to speak, was also a refreshing cup of cold water to those spiritually thirsty for such hopeful news!

May God bless you always. In Christ’s love.

Global Ministries offers a weekly prayer for one of our global mission partners. This week's prayer is with South Africa. To read their mission moment, please click the Global Ministries IMAGE. Below is this week's prayer, united we pray.
Eternal and Loving God, we come to you in prayer for your church in Africa and the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) in particular.

Continue, oh God, working in and through us to will and act for justice. Even though the cross of the gospel is sometimes heavy upon us, we trust the unlimited power of your Holy Spirit to strengthen us for your mission.

It is your will that we may be united as your body on earth. Grant us to grow more and more towards each other as we draw more to you. May your timeless word nourish our unity and arm us as we pursue the unity of your creation.

We pray against selfish and political interests that work against your mission. Open our eyes to the plight of the suffering in the margins of life. Open our ears to hear their cry. Open our hands to work with them for their nourishment and experience the fullness of life in you.

May your kingdom come through our work as the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa.

Let your love and peace reign in our world. We ask all this in the name of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
