At the heart of our work is the belief that everyone deserves for their basic needs to be met. With your help, we hope to accomplish just that.

We empower and support our clients to provide for themselves and their families. We are the quiet support that allows them to put food on their tables, provide holiday gifts for their children, and ensure that they have someone to turn to if they are really in a bind.

This Thanksgiving, we provided 461 families with all they needed to prepare a delicious holiday meal compared to 295 families last year and 201 the year before.  We can see that our neighbors are really struggling to put food on the table, and your constant support has allowed us to keep stepping up.

In the month of November, we had 1132 visits to our food pantry, making it the second busiest month ever in our 43 years of serving our community. After adding in yesterday's food distribution, we have given our community 305,614 meals worth of food so far this year.

We rely heavily on local support! In addition to donations, food drives have been vital to helping keep our shelves stocked.

A big shout out to the following organizations for hosting food drives for us:

  • Southampton Cub Scouts Pack 14
  • Sally Booth and the Quogue Post Office
  • Southampton Intermediate School
  • Rogers Memorial Library
  • Southampton Hospital

The SES Community Service Club is hosting a food drive this Saturday, December 2nd at Stop and Shop in Southampton. Stop by to support their efforts!

This year marks our 31st annual Holiday Star Program. With your generous spirit, we have provided thousands of gifts to local children in need. Last year alone, we distributed over 1,000 toys to children who would otherwise go without. If you would like to get involved, follow these steps:

Step 1: Pick up a Holiday Star(s) displayed around town (listed below) signifying a requested gift (age 3-4 toy or $25 gift card for a teen). Or email here for a virtual star.

Step 2: Deliver unwrapped gifts to Heart of the Hamptons, Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton, Emporium Hardware in Sag Harbor, and Schmidt's Market and UBS Builders both in Quogue. Or bring your gift to the Polar Bear Plunge on December 9th.

Step 3: Please drop off gifts by December 11th.

Starting the week of December 11th, Heart of the Hamptons' registered families are invited to come "shop" to pick out a few presents for each of their children so the parents can feel the joy of giving. Plus, each child will receive pajamas, hats and gloves, books, and games for the whole family to enjoy.

A huge thank you to all of the businesses and churches involved!

In addition to gifts, we would be most grateful for donation of warm pajamas, hats, and gloves or you can click here to underwrite us ordering.

What's better than a warm hug from Santa after a cold dip in the ocean? ... well, nothing! But, being surrounded by 800 of your friends and neighbors as you help those in our community that need a little extra love is a pretty close second.

Come on down and warm your heart on Saturday, December 9th for our 20th anniversary Polar Bear Plunge! Delicious treats will be served by The Golden Pear, Chef Jack Formica, 7-11, and Shippy's Restaurant.

Did you know that the Polar Bear Plunge accounts for one quarter of our annual budget? Every dollar raised will allow us to continue to support those that depend on us through the cold winter months.

Get freezin' for a great reason!

4. How does one register for the food pantry?

One can register ahead by calling our office (631-283-6415) to speak with our bilingual staff. New customers are welcome to visit during food pantry hours- Wednesdays and Fridays from 10AM-12PM. Upon arrival, they will be asked to fill out a registration form and provide valid identification. This form is used solely for reporting numbers to the food bank so we receive enough food to feed our customers.

Our mission is simple - to help people in our local community who are in need with dignity and without discrimination. For the past 43 years, we've been able to do that together. We thank you!
