October 4, 2023
To the Pace Community:
The Pace University Safety and Security and Emergency Management departments are dedicated to maintaining the highest level of safety and preparedness on our campuses. Here are some important updates and reminders for the Fall 2023 semester.

  • As of October 3, the Safety and Security Department on Pace’s NYC Campus has been relocated to the following locations:
  • The 24-hour security dispatch will be located in the front courtyard of 33 Beekman, left of the revolving door.
  • The Safety and Security management team will be located on the first floor of 161 William Street.
  • The phone number for Safety and Security has not changed. Please call (212) 346-1800 for assistance.
  • Staffing updates: We are pleased to welcome two new team members:
  • Elliot Rodriguez has been promoted to the Director of Safety and Security for the New York City Campus.
  • Andy Lewen, MPH, has been named as the new Director of Emergency Management and Continuity
  • Nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS): The US Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a nationwide test of the Wireless WEA and EAS later today at 2:20 p.m. The WEA system is used to warn the public about dangerous weather, missing children, and other critical situations through alerts on cell phones. Cell phones that are switched on and within range of an active cell tower should be capable of receiving the test message. Cell phones should only receive the message once.
  • Pace Alert is the emergency notification system that delivers time-sensitive emergency notifications via text, email, and/or telephone to the Pace University community. You may add up to three additional mobile numbers to receive text-based SMS alerts. To update your campus preferences, confirm or add your mobile phone number, register supplemental contact information or update your contact information, visit alert.pace.edu.
  • Be sure to download the PaceSafe mobile app. The app will send you important safety alerts and provide instant access to campus safety resources like severe weather updates, a friend-walk feature, emergency procedures, security contact information, direct dial to 911, and other safety resources.
  • Finally, as is our annual practice, individuals will be assigned an Emergency Management Training Module: Active Shooter Awareness through our Safe Colleges learning management system. Completion of this training is required. Everyone plays an integral role in mitigating the impact of an active threat. Emergency Management aims to enhance preparedness through in-person and online training geared to help you prepare for threats to our community.

The safety of all members of the Pace Community remains our highest priority, and if you have questions about this or other safety resources, please email security@pace.edu. Thank you for your continued cooperation in our efforts to ensure the safety of the Pace Community.
Sincerely,
Vincent Beatty

Brian Anderson, MPH, CSP
