Dear Residents -

With Election Day behind us, I want to once again thank the voters of Orangetown for trusting me to serve as Town Supervisor. I will continue to work hard and always do what I believe is right for the people of Orangetown.

Congratulations to those who won their elections, including Town Councilmen Paul Valentine and Jerry Bottari; our new Orangetown Rockland County Legislators, Tom Diviny, Ray Sheridan and Dana Stilley; and Mayors Joseph Rand and Bruce Tucker. I look forward to working with all of them with a united goal of making Orangetown a better place for all.

I also want to commend those who ran for public office, regardless of party affiliation, but who fell short on votes. While it is easy to complain and criticize elected officials, it is difficult to put yourself out there because you believe that you can make a difference in your community. So, thanks to all candidates for caring enough about Orangetown and Rockland County, and for stepping up to take a vital role in the democratic process.

As a reminder, Town Hall will be closed tomorrow for Veterans Day. Whatever you choose to do, be sure to remember those who put their lives on the line to protect our democracy, our values and our freedom. And a special thanks to Rose Marie Raccioppi, the Orangetown Poet Laureate, for sharing her poem, “In Tribute this Veterans Day, 2023.”

Have a great weekend and stay safe.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Rockland Homes for Heroes Fundraiser

Supervisor Kenny attended a Rockland Homes for Heroes Fundraiser at the Pearl River Saloon last Friday. All proceeds from the event will help to furnish 14 new apartments built by Rockland Homes for Heroes to house homeless veterans. Thanks to Keller Williams Hudson Valley, the Pearl River Saloon, Anchor Trading and Carbon Team Crosscountry Mortgage for their sponsorship and donations to a very worthy cause.

Thank you Brownie Troop # 40734

In order to "be prepared" for Supervisor Kenny's Veterans Day drive-by luncheon, second grade Brownies volunteered to wrap and place glasses into the gift bags. Thank you to Jaclyn Fishkow and Daria Costa, troop co-leaders, for bringing the girls out to help with the "special gift" for our veterans.

Veterans Drive-by Boxed Lunch

Supervisor Kenny, Senator Bill Weber, and representatives from the offices of Congressman Mike Lawler and Assemblyman John McGowan, handed out boxed lunches and chatted with Orangetown’s veterans this afternoon.

Orangetown Police Department

The Orangetown Police Department would like to remind everyone to avoid parking their cars on leaf piles. Fall is here and residents are preparing for leaf removal by moving their leaves to the curb. If you park your car on a leaf pile the hot exhaust pipes on your car are hot enough to potentially ignite the leaves and set your car on fire.
