Upcoming Education & Development Opportunities
1. Sectional Series August
Thank you to all that completed the Sectional Series Availability Survey. The Assignments – Sectional Series working group reviewed the 142 surveys that were received and have worked through whom to be invited to each event.
Invitations have been sent out for the Sectional Series August.
We hope that you can appreciate that we cannot invite all the officials that indicated availability for this event. The response to attend the August event surpasses the number of officials required.
2. Section Level Tech Panel Clinic
July 14-16 | Clinic is anticipated to start Friday at 9:00 am
Skate Ontario will be hosting a Section Level Technical Panel Seminar for Singles on July 14-16, 2023. This seminar will be held in-person at the Skate Ontario office in Mississauga. From our recent Officials survey, we know that many Ontario officials have expressed an interest in pursuing Technical Panel training. As we do have limited spaces we will be considering applications for this seminar using the following criteria/prioritization.
- Geographic & organizational needs
- Officials wishing to reactivate after a period of inactivity
- Coaching conflicts
- Other officiating pathways currently being pursued
- Ability to officiate throughout the skating season
We are requesting that Officials who are interested in being considered to attend this clinic complete the following application form by Sunday June 18 at 6:00pm. Selected candidates will be notified by June 26 via email. Should you have questions about whether this seminar aligns with your current officials pathway, please indicate this on your survey and you will be contacted.
3. Judge & Tech Panel Season Kick-Offs
Seems like the competition season just finished and here we go again. In preparation for the competition season, Skate Ontario is hosting online Season Kick-off sessions for Judges and Technical Officials. Whether you will be participating at Sectional or Provincial Series events, you are encourage to join the conversation.
- Judge Season Kick-off July 11, 2023 7:00-9:00 pm ET
- Technical Official Season Kick-off July 13, 2023 7:00-9:00 pm ET
Registration information will be available in the upcoming June 30, 2023 JET Communications. In the meantime, don’t forget to add these dates in your calendar.
4. Referee Forum Follow-Up
Thank you very much to those officials who attended this week’s Referee Forum. We had a productive session and many good conversations with a group of existing and new Referees. We are currently considering holding similar Referee Forums throughout the season focused on specific topics such as Refereeing STAR events, Managing Interruptions and other relevant Referee topics. More information and dates will be included in future JET Communications.
