Mahopac’s schools were filled with activity this week as students began the 2023-2024 school year. The Mahopac Wolf Pac hit the ground running as they met their teachers and explored their new classrooms.
“It was wonderful to see the smiling faces of our students as I visited each of our schools this week!” said Superintendent Christine Tona on Friday. “The entire Mahopac CSD staff is excited for the new school year and the opportunity to provide new learning and experiences to all of our students. Welcome back to everyone with wishes for a terrific school year!”
Mahopac Middle School’s sixth grade and Mahopac High School’s ninth grade heard from nationally known youth motivational speaker Brandon Lee White during orientation. He shared some valuable advice.
“I help students take ownership of what matters,” White said. “Your character, your opportunities, your skills, your talents and your leadership.”
Going to a new school after summer vacation can be overwhelming, and White’s light-hearted talk gave students a chance to step back and take new perspective on the exciting change.
“He told us stories about staying positive even when we’re struggling,” said ninth grader Liam Jones. “I’m looking forward to the new freedom that we’re going to have.”
Another new student shared her thoughts about the upcoming school year.
“I’m excited and a little bit nervous,” the ninth-grade student said. “I’m looking forward to all of the new freedom and I want to make new friends, so I’m going to go and check out all of the clubs.”
The Mahopac Central School District’s staff and faculty are committed to serving each student’s needs and to effectively communicating with both students and parents in pursuit of the District’s Mission Statement:
“The Mahopac CSD develops educated, upstanding citizens with practical life skills through rigorous preparation for the real world.”
